I had a completely different experience than Shifteye. Went in for a quick meal pre-comedy at the Hippodrome. Service was fast, excellent and polite. Food was delicious. We chose from the large selection on pre-theatre menu.
I WOULD encourage you to visit this restaurant.
The food is not bad but still not very authentic for my taste. And a little bit more to the pricey side I would say. But I would go again when I really want to eat Thai food. Not a bad choice compared to other Thai restaurants in town. Great atmosphere.
This place may have the contempory looks and the location of a restaurant above it's station.
The service alters between staff, often impersonal due to the lack of staff for the number of tables. There is a relaxed waiting time which does not juxtapose well with being a primary stop off before the theatre over the square.
As with all Thai restaurants, the starters can not be faulted, if only the starters were a tapas style meal. The mains slide down into mediocrity and end in the often weak point of the bought in desert.
In one word, 'meh'.
What a fantastically enormous disappointed this restaurant is. They charge the sort of prices you'd expect for high quality organic fresh food... every single dish, between the four of us that foolishly ventured into this culinary pit of disaster, felt distinctively rubbery and tasted as though it had been previously kept frozen for weeks. Additionally the service was painfully slow, with a 15 - 20 min wait asking for the bill... they weren't even that busy.
I seriously discourage anyone and everyone from going to this restaurant.
A fancy-looking restaurant placed directly on Broad Quay with a view of the harbor means this place has decent food with steep prices. I dined with a party of 6 and they were very accomodating, if a bit slow with service. The appetizer platters were quite filling and delicious, while all of the main dishes were extremely gloopy. What I mean is that the Tom Yam soup was very salty, the Chicken Yellow Curry was great but mostly sauce, the Singapore Noodles were very sweet, etc. I will say that the prawns in the appetizer platter were HUGE and tasted like Lobster...so that's always good! Overall this place is nicely designed and nicely staffed but food is oversalted and overpriced.
I went around 7-ish and had quite a good experience. The food was delicious and the service was good.
