Really loved the idyllic setting here. Garden setting with fresh food; tucked inside the trees.
We ordered the mozzarella & tomato appetizer (large portion for 2 ppl); spaghetti special (fresh pasta, little bland); and roast beef (always good).
My companion and I found this place within Tiergarten, after taking a walk. We wanted some tea for the afternoon, as it was a little chilly. So we headed here, took a seat, and grabbed a menu.
We ordered tea, as well as "homemade" apple pie, as it was recommended to us by the wait staff. After about 10 minutes, the tea came. But not the apple pie. When the staff asked us if everything was ok, then we told her that we ordered for the pie but it wasn't there yet. So she checked.
After 10 minutes, we still had no pie. The wait staff came again, and asked if everything was okay. We told her that our pies still were not there. So after 5 minutes, it finally came. It wasn't the most impressive. It definitely didn't feel nor taste homemade, and to tell you the truth, I was slightly pissed that I waited all for that.
Needless to say, we didn't give any tip. Why would I? After all, the wait staff looked like she was having a bad day after all, and service was definitely sub par. I don't think I would go here again.
Left the Teehaus after 45 minutes. We've waited half an hour for 5 Hefeweizens. Asked the waitress and she yelled at us in german!! German Gemutlihkeit?!? WTF!
Nice location, but terrible staff. Staff member started taking our orders and half way through he just walked off, only to return about 5 minutes later. At a certain moment, I counted nine staff doing nothing at all apart from socialising among themselves not paying any attention to the customers. Carrot/ginger soup was OKish, but most places in Berlin serve much better fare. Go here for the nice location, or do some fieldwork on an anthropology study into the bonding rituals of waiters, but not for a culinary experience.
