2 reviews for Taman Gang
This place started as a restaurant, than added the "club" nights on the w/e. The food is absolutely amazing, Soft shell crab tempura was excellent. Most sushi dishes are brilliant, try out the sea bass!
The atmosphere is great, the whole place is done up in a modern style yet got loads of Asian/Japanese elements to it as well.
the lounge is excellent, and the drinks seem to be well made from what i saw (even though i had only wine!)
definitely worth a visit!
I wobbled between two and three stars for this one. So maybe that makes it a 2 and a half. I mean, there are certainly worse clubs in London (I can think of at least two in Piccadilly Circus), but I would certainly never queue here, much less think of coming back.
What Taman Gang has going for it is that it feels and looks like is a Mayfair Club (complete with a Park Lane address), but with a tacky crowd and a twist of sleaze. (Think older women dancing with yucky younger men).
The ick factor wasn't helped by the fact that this small club had go-go dancers - both male and female. The go-men were bare-chested and grinding on pillars with women they'd plucked from the crowd - gross.
The music they played was a tepid variety of OLD - and I don't mean retro. I mean stale, like, "umm, wasn't this song cool, two years ago??"
Bleah.
Shortly after my friend's head had an unwanted encounter with one of the go-men's arse - we left after 45 minutes .
