Large department store in teh middle of Newcastle.
I always pop in when I'm passing as you never know what bargain you're going to get next in here!
Everything is at a bargainprice in here - some better than others. The perfumes are a lot cheaper than you would see them in the high street and their electrical department often has lots of little bargains.
My only grip is that everything seems to be jammed in and sometimes it's easy to miss things
This is a department store that reminds me of being a child in the 70's. The store is a little messy and in places quite gloomy but there is usually a good range of goods, particularly branded cosmetics, and the prices are very good indeed. If you like named brands with affordable price tags then come to TJ Hughes, but if you love the big glitzy displays and designer price tags of Fenwicks and John Lewis then this place is most definitely not for you.
The store is not in the main shopping areas of Northumberland St. or Eldon Square, but it is fairly central (5 minutes walk from Monument Metro Station).
There are no lifts or restaurant, it's quite basic but a good place for a bargain.

This store provides a variety of products at extra cheap prices. Often respected brand names are available at hugely discounted prices. Weekly fliers advertise the best deals available, with products varying from electrical goods to perfume. Always worth going here if you need something specific, cheaply.
If you're looking for names brands such as Dyson, Sloggi, Nokia, Morphy Richards etc then its worth checking ot TJ Hughes, The stock is not the latest season but if you can't afford Fenwicks or John Lewis then this is the place for you. The best items are Mobile Phones and Make up but its always worth price checking before you start shopping here just to make sure you get the best price as i have found the Perfume cheaper in Boots.
Great place to pick up cheap little bargains , although the general outlook of the staore is scruffy with many products squeezed together so you can t get at them properly
If you're out bargin hunting I completely recommend TJ Hughes, especially at this time of year as they have the best offers on very nice things including some lables and named brands. In the past I have found cheap Benefit cosmetics and their perfumes and aftershaves always have the best prices. I mainly stick to the ground floor but i'm sure there is another couple upstairs that have everything from baby to kitchen. The store itself is on Grainger street and can't be missed if walking up from Central or down from Grey's Monument.
I always try TG HUGHES before anywhere else if I'm after something specific.I've saved pounds on cosmetics that are the same brands that I would of bought elsewhere. They sell a vast variety of clothing and shoes.Household goods and cosmetics, toys ect..Infact you just don't know what your'e going to find and it's well worth your'e while popping in now and again just for a bit of a browse. There are no frills here but you get what you pay for and there are some brilliant bargains to be had if you look. It's always busy but the prices are so good what can you expect. There's a nice cafe too on the top floor.
Great store, if you can get over the fact that some parts of it look like a jumble sale. Very cheap clothes, many labels that would cost a lot more elsewhere, but not always new season. Also good bargains to be had in the underwear section. My favourite part of the store is homeware where you can pick up things like boxes, lamps, cushions that are great quality at a fraction of the price you would expect.
T J Hughes always has a wide range of items - homeware - clothes - toys at great prices. This is a large store with a great range itself if your looking for something good quality with a high street price this is the place to go.
This is a large department store that sells a wide range of items at very low prices. There are often big reductions on last seasons branded goods. Store can be a bit messy at times. Great place to pick up some home essentials on the cheap.
TJ hughes in newcastle is situated in front of Grainger Market. It is really good store with so many bargains inside. I love this store as I can buy really nice watch for a tenner or even a fiver if you are lucky. I always buy perfume & after shave here as well, as it's really cheap compared to in other shops. Always pop in to this store when you go to town, and I can guarantee 6 out of 10 visits, you will get dead cheap bargains you will never see anywhere else. They also sell electronics and homeware at second floor. The menswear/womenwear is situated in 1st floor. The menswear/womenwear is really cheap and really fashionable. This store is definitely a choice for people who wants medium to high quality items but at a cheap price.
Good item, price and bargain for shopping. Big place, Clean and tidy place, plenty item sell on there. From toys, café, clothes, shoes, homeware, mobile phone, camera, television, soft household equipment and many many more. I buy large hook just cost me £ 10 at another store like wilkinson cost £ 35, 2 wedges cost £ 1 on poundland just 1 wedges. They have 3 level on the top is café. If you go there on weekend have long queue at cashier and took long time because for cashier they use for refund items too. Not pay or Free for plastic bag. For the services they have nice and good staff.
great shop reasonable prices with some great items everything you could want under one roof. people are friendly if you need any help and a few bargains can be found if you dig around.
great range of good and hard to belive prices! the prices of beauty products and perfumes is unbeatable great for gifts can get very busy because its so cheap. can get messy but who cares when its so cheap??
I like this store as you can find some nifty bargains. I have recently bought some baby stuff including a little coat as well as bibs and baby grows and I think they are worth the money that you pay as they are also Disney, which would generally cost you a fortune in stores like the Disney shop. I would recommend this shop to the general public as you can find most things you are looking for, from bedding to electrical items to cutlery.
This shop is great for you are looking for products which offer bargain prices as well as good quality. The product lines range from beauty products, to clothing items, to electronics and much much more. Also there is a lovely little café which is situated on the third floor, it is a nice place to come and eat for breakfast or even lunch.
Unlike many department stores in the city centre, this one has reasonable prices on quality items. Ok so there may not be Gucci hand bags and Versace dresses and you will find cheap cosmetics in bargain bins (not perfume counters and make-up artists). T J Hughes or TJ's as it gets called by the masses, is a fairly large store which specialises in clothes and homeware. Curtains, cushions, towels, and bedding are reasonably priced and there is a decent selection. Men's jeans are dirt cheap and the women's wear is pretty cheap and slightly fashionable too. The toys section is on the top floor and it's also there where you can buy a new iron and kitchen ware. The shop doesn't pretend to be something it's not and no lies are sold here. If it looks cheap then it will be cheap. As far as sweets go there is no pick'n'mix but there are bargain bins at the tills filled with cheap bags for £1 and boxes of biscuits. Your grandma will probably buy her shortbread from here.
