I was at Sway bar a few nights ago as part of a big party in one of the downstairs rooms (the Milk Bar, to be specific). I mention this because it means that I obviously had a bit of an unusual experience, but there are some things I can comment on that I think are general about the place.

First, the service was quite good, considering how busy and big of a group we were.  The bartenders were able to quickly make drinks, handle transactions, and patiently put up with a whole lot of increasingly drunk people who basically didn't want to go home (woo, end of finals!).

The drinks themselves were alright--pretty high priced, though I guess that's part and parcel with the neighborhood. We also had a chance to try food, which was great bar food--wings, pizza, fries, etc. All of it was piping hot and very tasty!

Overall, it was nice enough--I had a good time dancing and letting go of some stress. I'm not sure it's my typical cup of tea, but it's a good place if you're into cocktail bars with a little bit of funkiness to them.

Oh boy, what can I say about this hell hole.

Music is your typical pop and disco music as with every west end easy access bar/club, but its the service you get or not get in most cases which will keep you away.

The doormen have this under paid complex where they begrudge anyone spending money and assuming everyone is acting like a big shot as demonstrated by their main man Ray the doorman. Ordering drinks, was another mission, it seems they are employing staff with a basic level of English; asked for a bar tab and the bartender looked at me with a blank face. Had to tell the bartender five times before i gave up and saw a supervisor who translated to him what i was requesting. They should really issue translation books at the door if this is going to be the norm when ordering drinks.

Man, I haven't been Sway for six years, I think it needs another six before a return. It's a shame, I use to go there a lot when it just opened, now its just a easy night out, with non-English speaking rude staff.

'Well this place looks like a brothel'. My first thoughts upon entering Sway and they haven't changed much since.

This place just has 'chain-pub' written all over it, absolutely zero character but apparently huge pretensions. While we were there, they had a speed flatmating event on. Classy place. I hear it's a nightclub as well, shudder! The bathrooms definitely give that vibe off.

It's a big bar, so lots of space if you are in a group of people. They have red leather booths and a huge bar wrapping around. I spotted a lot of burgers and pub food zipping past.

    Emmmm! Hmmmm!

The only reason I was in here was because a friend has just move to London and another friend wanted to show him "a good time!" Hmmmm!

I do not do clubs and this reminded me just why. I have never seen so many almost dress, staggering drunk ladies (I use the term loosely) in a while. It felt like a scene from one of those undesirable reality shows. Fake tan, fake eyelashes, fake boobs...

On a positive I do like that it has multiple rooms with different music playing in each. The decor is nice too.

Not somewhere I'll be visiting again but that's more to personal taste rather than is being a bad place. If you fancy a bit of a dance, and some 'Made in get me out of here Big Essex' eye candy with a side order of cheesy music (one room), you'll love it!

I just spent my new years eve here, the memories are fresh and so is the pain so this is probably the best time to write this review.

The crowd are unfriendly, people barge past you without thinking twice, often trying to push you out of the way. Thank God I'm 6'2" and weigh 90kg (so I'm not that easy to push around), I wonder what little people must feel like.

I've been left with 3 cuts to my arm, some idiot decided it would be fun to throw a glass across the room on the dancefloor, have no idea who it was, it landed one someones head, got smashed and fell on my arm. The broken pieces cut me in 3 places. They weren't major cuts, just minor scraps that caused blood to slowly ooze out. I just hope the guy who got hit in the head with it didn't get any in his eyes.

You may be thinking, it's not really the management's fault that the punters are idiots, well, if you ask me, more visible security would have helped idiots from behaving in such a way.

To their credit, the bouncers were quite helpful and were very prompt with the first aid.

I'm giving this 2 stars and not 1 because this could have been a one-off due to new years eve drunks, which doesn't reflect the normal clientele.

Sway is the kind of bar where it's advisable for men to don their shiniest black shoes and women feel compelled to wear very small dresses. In other words, the kind of bar that does absolutely nothing for me.

A sprawling, modern kind of space with a comprehensive food menu and an impressive cocktail list, there's nothing wrong with Sway per se it's just not really my style.

I will concede that Sway does a mean mojito, it's just lacking a little of the character that I enjoy in other bars and for that reason alone I give Sway three stars.

Where do I begin? After living in London for 6 months, it was about time to check out the club scene.

    The pros:
+several rooms with various music options
    +big space, not too packed
    +diverse crowd

    The cons:
    -expensive drinks
-coat check was at full capacity at 9pm
-too many private parties, limited access to rooms

It wasn't what I expected out of a Girls Night Out, but it was alright. Not sure if I'd come back though...

Sway is the kind of place you can go for a night club or a good meal out. I was invited to a private party here, it is the kind of place I would have never found by myself.

There are several lounges here. I was in what they call the Suede room which was really warm in its peach and beige decor - beautifully done.

There was a huge choice of drinks with a really impressive Champagne list. The Moet was pretty steep at almost 50 quid a bottle, nether the less it is worth getting a bottle just to enjoy in such nice surroundings. I was lucky on this night as it was bought for me :).

I will definitely come back here and perhaps try the food menu (which is European and diverse) next time. Sway is a good place for a posh night out.

I'm sorry but I don't like Sway. There I've said it. Please can we stop having nights out here??!

The drinks are over priced to the max and the sort of people that you find here are usually on hen nights in policewoman outfits complete with plastic batons and mockney accents.

No, I don't want to do a £5 jello shot.

I dont want to dance to techno music on broken glass while being elbowed as miss overly-tanned makes out with mr overly-bejewelled.

I don't want to be compelled to smoke a million cigarettes so I can be outside of the place I paid £8 to get into (at a discounted rate!)

I don't want to go here ever again.

Came to Sway for dinner (toptable- 50% off) before a show. It was a lot nicer than I thought it would be, however it took some time for them to find our table as they had lost our table allocation. We ordered a round of cocktails under happy hour (50% off till 7.30) and received our starter of garlic ciabatta bread. It was a nice starter, but strangely reminded me of popcorn... It is at this point when a bus load of school children came in. There were about 50 school children on a trip to London who all bowled in with the usual kids chatter. It made us feel a little like chaperones, being in a "swanky" bar/restaurant with kids... but on the most part they all behaved.

When the food came it looked quite nice. We ordered steaks, fajita, and the Thai green curry. It was all quite average, but still tasty. When then bill arrived we all agreed that the food was definitely not worth the full price, but we were quite happy with our 50% off bill. Might come back for a few after work drinks.

Sway has a decent bar upstaris and 2 dance floors downstairs, each with different music playing. One of them has a fancy disco dance floor and scantily clad ladies are paid to dance there and entice others onto the floor.
It's open late but needs a big crowd to keep the atmosphere alive.
Drinks are pricey and watch out for bar staff who will come and take your half-finished cocktail away if you leave it unattended for more than 5 seconds.

Had an awful experience in the restaurant there last night. We spent the whole night being ignored by the waiting staff. It took half an hour and asking twice for our bottle of wine to turn up. Our 2 course meal took just short of 3 hours, during which neighbouring tables had 2 sets of diners.

The service charge is included in the bill and that felt like a rip off as we had no service. By the end of the night there weren't even many table to wait on as the centre area was cleared for an Argentinian Tango dancing session that the staff didn't warn us about and created a noisy but vaguely comic end to the whole drawn out meal.

Went here for a schmoozy lunch the other day having only been for cocktails before, and have to say I was very impressed. For such a nice place in such a handy location, the lunch menu is really cheap and they do a fishfinger sandwich almost as well as I do at home (it's all in the smushing down, if you must know).

Not a lot on offer for vegetarians, I noticed, and the service can be a bit hit and miss at busy times (they rushed us to get the bill then took ages to come and collect it) but if you're out and about in this part of town and need somewhere to stop and grab a bite that's not full of tourists or families, I'd definitely recommend Sway.

Cocktails are brilliant, by the way. Make sure to try Happy Hour one evening!

I didn't hate Sway at all!  In fact, I would have given it 4 stars if it hadn't been for the bimbos dancing in the entryway when we arrived. Um.  Huh?  I seriously thought I might be at a strip club.  And considering that most of the clientele on this particular evening were women, it was just confusing to have to walk past this gauntlet of young girls in too-tight outfits and way too much make-up...well...swaying...as you walked into the joint.

Still, the allure of the free drink token called to us, and we did end up thinking the place was pretty nice.  If you've got a big group that needs a good sized booth to share, this was a handy meet-up place.  It wasa very clean and trendy looking inside.  I liked the vibe.  I didn't stay late enough to know for sure whether it was that great as far as music goes, but it wasn't a bad place to hang out for an hour or two at all.

Sway, old CC Club. This club reminded me alot of Paper in Picadilly. A nice club, looks very posh from the outside considering the very long q. Sway didn't reach my expectations. It wasnt as clean as I expected it to be, the ladiesroom was not clean at all, a very dirty area. It was extremely hot in Sway so I do not recommend alot of clothes.
I loved the cowd at Sway, there was a nice mix of bohemic chick, posh footballers wife and ghetto bitch. It is a nice club and hence the prices, however I could pay a bit more for the drinkslets not give the clubowners no ideas lol:).

Pro's: Amazing crowd, good prices, hype songs all night and a great DJ.

Con's: Not clean, long q and very hot.

Sway offers a very good and cheap alternative to the normal lunch time offerings, especially for the centre of London. Main meals can be as little as £3. Due to this low price the food is cooked very quickly, probably with a lot of it pre prepared so wasn't the hottest meal I had ever eaten. Although for the price I really couldn't complain. Four of us were seated and served all within our 1 hour lunch break. The place does get very busy during lunch time but due to the quick service you normally don't have to wait too long.

In the evening I have popped in a few times for after work cocktails during their happy hour. It is not a very large bar and doesn't offer extensive seating. However if you just want a quick one or two or somewhere to meet friends before moving on then it is a good place to start.

The restaurant at Sway is one of those places you go to eat with a friend or a group of friends, and you really don't mind shouting and ranting and having a rowdy time. The place practically begs for it, with the lighting turned low and the tables crammed in. There is almost a swanky cafe feel about it, but in a good way.

The menu is full of the easy pub grub type of food and some excellent, cheap platters. I really enjoyed the food, and with those prices you can really pig out!
It is not intimate and it isn't a date venue (unless you might be worried about having anything to talk about, the restaurant seems to encourage conversation somehow.

Its busy as hell so book ahead.

I've only been for a happy hour, and even that experience was lacking. Multiple floors for the entire club. First floor was where the happy hour was, and the service was horrible!

Sway is one those places which was highly built up reputation wise a couple of years ago but has now gone slightly 'out of fashion'. Even so, a good night can definitely be had here so fear not. The food is very reasonably priced - not exactly posh nosh and the elaborate names of the dishes are a lot more fancy than the dishes themselves, but the presentation is rather good and all in all, it is very good value. The atmosphere is always buzzing in the bar and restaurant and they make a great Mai Tai cocktail. If you like your salsa and Latin vibes, they hold dedicated mid week nights for this (these are my favourite nights). If you're looking for somewhere to strut your stuff, Sway is certainly a good recommendation. The crowd is a little Z list however and don't be surprised if you bump into the good old 'has beens' who still think they are famous - you catch my drift!

Started my Friday night here last weekend. the happy hour prices are decent, but you're tricked into thinking it's a really good deal cause it's "half off." the platters were only okay, wouldn't recommend this place for food. drinks at price half are pretty good (happy hour 5-8) for central london though. the nice thing about this place is the multiple dance rooms, i've been here once before and have always found at least one room playing music i like. overall, it's the kind of place i would agree to go to if it's been organized, but wouldn't firsthand suggest myself.

I went to Sway Bar About 2 Months ago and got placed in Grovey Wonderland which was a very funky room with a Michael Jackson light up dance floor,
Bar service was decent but most bars in the area were packed so it was acceptable.
The young lady on the door showed me to our area which we had Pre-booked to save standing around.
The music was great , loved the atmosphere .
had a good night and would deffo go again

Very nice bar located in the heart of Covent garden which like the majority of bars, also possess a restaurant. The food available is modern British, there are three very different and trendy bars within the venue and a club night at least twice a week.
Last time I went, i had the fish finger sandwich with salad and chips. Was all very nice but the fish fingers a little over done, other than that no complaints. Everyone else in my party very please with their food (bacon burger, bbq chicken and pasta arabiata) . The cocktails were lovely and very reasonably priced in happy hour (not too bad outside of happy hour either). Food was great value and Sway was popular so had a great atmosphere. Staff were helpful and prompt.
It is always nice to work into one of these trendy bars and be able to order a nice pint of draught beer, as I am not really into bottles. I love Becks Vier, but this can be difficult to find!

This place is great on a friday night after work. There is a quietish restaurant upstairs and a bar and a club downstairs so you can start off with a few relaxing drinks before getting in to the swing of it downstairs. It's busy but there isn't usually a queue, which makes it a great place to kick off the weekend! The staff are friendly and there is a good vibe to the restaurant and the bar. The club has a good dj and two bars so you never have to wait long for a drink.

A nice spot if you around the area looking for a few drinks. I didn't get to visit the restaurant just the club downstairs, which didn't have a queue which was a surprise. After paying a whopping £10 each to get in we headed straight to the bar. The club has 3 rooms, all playing different genres of club music. There was a good mix of people and it had a good atmosphere. It got really hot in there and because one of the rooms had a carpeted dance area, it got a bit smelly too! The prices for drinks where what I expected in central London and the bar staff where OK. I did enjoy it but maybe that's because I wasn't expecting much!

I've spent a couple of evenings after work at Sway and have never left disappointed. We ate upstairs and had a couple of drinks and then had a table booked downstairs in the bar where we spent the evening. It was absolutely packed! After 9pm every time you went to the bar you would spend at least 20 minutes waiting to be served and another 10 minutes pushing through the crowds!

I would go again but only with a table booked - too crowded for me!
