Fulham has one restaurant after the other appearing and flourishing. Some come and others go. There is a different success story with Sukho - a Thai restaurant, which is clearly the favourite of the locals!
Can you imagine a restaurant, which is every evening fully booked? I was curious, as the place is not cheap. So I visited it with my family. The owners understand something, which gets lost sometimes in busy London gastronomy - customer service of highest quality but discretion.
This begins with the green bamboo plants outside, how you are welcomed, which table you want to sit on, to quick service, excellent food and not that I should talk about the toilets - but in this case - the toilet is very small but clean and with thoughtful little details, a treat for once.
The staff wears a beautiful uniform, which they probably have had tailor-made. This place has a secret to success and I hope they continue to flourish.
The food gets better every time I go back. Curries are served in little hot pots over a candle to keep them warm. Rest assured they are not stingy on the flavours and ingredients. Finally a place that doesn't rely on bell peppers! I also tend to ask for my dishes to be 'authentically spiced' - no mildness for me. Bring on the chili. I always leave with a wonderful flavour in my mouth, no greasy after tastes here. And they serve mango on sticky rice. Yum.
The staff can be a bit slow when it gets crowded, but they go out of their way to apologize and ensure you have a comfortable dining experience. Genuine, warm and hospitable is how I would describe it.
I went here on New Years Eve with a group of five adult vegetarians. The restaurant was we'll laid out and not too crammed with tables.
The staff were very helpful and were open to changing the menu to suit the vegetarian requests. About 85% of the dishes on the extensive menu could be changed which allowed a great option for all tastes.
The starters were scrumptious, especially the mixed vege dumplings. They explained that the curries all had shrimp paste as the base, so no surprises for the vego here.
The staff were super efficient and friendly and it made for a great night.
A little on the expensive side, but what do you expect from a trendy area of Fulham.
All in all, a good experience.
There are a number of good casual Thai restaurants in Fulham, but if you're looking for something a bit more special-this is it. Its not cheap, but the food is fantastic and well presented. Sukho's always busy, with good reason, so recommend booking.
Definitely delicious Thai food, and typically pleasant Thai service. Not great to sit in the window though, as you're gawped at by passers by.
This is an excellent example of how Thai food should be executed.
I was taken there for a intimate dinner and was treated to very attentive and friendly service from the start. The atmosphere was classy and relaxed with no sense of pretense despite the neighbourhood and high level to which the restaurant had been finished to.
The food is very well put together. No more flat, generic curries, and pale soups. Here we have something with all the dimension and punch that I remember from Thailand. Take your time to savour the subtle depths of their excellent green curry.
As with most Asian restaurants, desserts had a lot to be desired but the courses prior more than made up for that.
Avoid the frankly shocking Mango Tree in Victoria if you want Thai with a touch of class. This is in a different league.
Best Thai food I've had outside of Thailand. Not the cheapest but you can't fault the quality. A booking is essential to guarantee a table as the place is small but buzzing.
