This beach is only a part of the stunning Dorset coastline that graces the area. Be aware that only a specific area of the beach is designated a nudist beach; this area is clearly signposted. It is possible to catch the Sandbanks Chain Ferry from Sandbanks across to Studland, then walk right the way along the coast! There are also bus services available, particularly in the summer months (the bus operator is Wilts and Dorset; you can also treat yourself to an open-top double decker bus trip on sunny days!) The scenery is stunning; your legs will feel tired if you just keep on walking, but there are a number of pubs which you can stop off at for lunch or snacks.

This is a popular beach, probably the most popular naturist beach along the South Coast and one of the best known in Britain. On a busy day, this would not be the best choice for those seeking solitude. The beach, which faces south-east, consists of sand, with dunes and heath to the rear. National Trust-employed wardens patrol regularly and will move naked people who stray outside the nude area (marked by posts). The beach is regularly cleaned. Unfortunately behind the nude section the dunes are increasingly used by gays the further you get from the sea towards the wooded area fronting the nature reserve. Because of the ferry and the propensity of bored adults in families to go for a long walk, the nudist section gets a lot of passers by. However they stick to the area immediately in front of the waves and don't interfere. Although there is more seclusion in the dunes, these are perhaps best avoided. If you want a particularly pleasant piece of beach at Studland, go where we all go. Knoll end of the naturist section, about 20 metres along from the posts. There you'll find nothing but folk enjoying the atmosphere, relaxing, sunbathing, and having a swim. Sometime one can get coffee and refreshments served/sold by the wardens of the National trust. A good atmoshere get brown all over.
