Strada is one of those chains that doesn't really feel like a chain. The decor is really inviting and the food a bit different from other chains. I love their tuna steak and the bread and olives as a side are absolutely gorgeous. The wine list is quite long and the staff are always happy to give you advice on what to go for. I think you could visit Strada for a romantic meal or a night out with friends. They don't have a children's menu as such but my two share a pizza and think it's great.
I have a soft spot for this particular branch of Strada - when did I last say that about a chain Italian? Never.
At this Blackheath branch, Strada seems to pull individuality out of a plastic chainstore carrier. Okay, maybe not individuality but at least warmth, good service, a friendly feel and some tasty dishes. Here, the bread they serve in every branch just seems to taste better, the company is softer lit and the fish looks fresher. Maybe it's just 'cos it's nice and close to Sophistar Towers.
But there's comfort in familiarity and I can think of no more comfortable familiarity than a bottle of Montepulciano, basket of rosemary bread, bowl of Linguine alla Pescatora and lashings of good convo with my local pals. Dreamy.
A part of the Strada chain but a particularly nice one. My only reservation is to avoid Sat/Sun lunch if you don't like children. Same applies to Pizza Express. Otherwise good.
I'm not totally sure how I would categorise Strada. It is a chain of fabulous places that sell Italian food. However its not just a great restaurant. Its also a good meeting place, a fantastic café and a perfect place for breakfast! If I were to have a choice between carluccios or strada for breakfast, I would always opt for Strada. You will get far more food for less money and the taste is the same if not better. Service is also far superior in Strada. The views in this particular one are also fantastic although you do need to venture upstairs! I love it lots!
This is a cosy looking strada. Again, strada ride themselves on presentation. This strada has adopted a very blackheath style as apposed to their light and modern approach at their southbank restaurant. It feels cosy, and more intimate. The service was personal, with the waiter sharing a few jokes with you. It also felt like many customers were usuals there however this could be the misconception taken by observing the interaction between the waiters and the customers and may be simply down to their personal approach. The food took a reasonable time to arrive and was perfect. will come here again.
The staff here are friendly, helpful and professional and I love the choice on Strada's menu which has more lower calorie dishes like the Steak Tagliata. Of course the puddings are hard to resist! The 250ml glasses of red wine are great value and serious size! Tap water comes for free in designer flip top bottles and tasted filtered.
