I have ordered delivery takeaway from Spice Nutriment a number of times. If you walked past the actual shop on Queens Road you would think it unremarkable. Luckily, this does not hold true to their food.
The menu is pretty expansive with a lot of the expected curry dishes from kurma's to madras. They also have a lot of dishes ffor vegetarians and in this respect seem to embrace the ethos of Indian cooking. I also like that they serve brown rice as standard, do not go crazy on the ghee butter and will grill any meat dishes you order.
The portions are generous and the order usually takes about 30 minutes to arrive from phoning (sometimes longer on Friday/Saturday evenings). It is nice to see Indian cuisine being apporached with a more health conscious consideration, but in honesty a curry aimed at a Western customer is still a curry. Quite how healthy it would be to frequently order chicken Bhoona's is debateable and I do think that the menu slightly sacrifices flavour for their ethos on health. That being said, they still serve a very tasty cury and if you are feeling a little guilty about your take away indulgence then you may sleep sounder by ordering from the Nutriment!
I regularly get either a madras or vindaloo from a variety of takeaways around Brighton. The vindaloo I bought the other night was the worst ever. The sauce had the consistency of water and the chicken was old and chewy.
This is the second time I have given this place a chance and NEVER again.
Also I really don't want to be religiously proselytised when seeking food.
You've been warned.
Spice Nutriment is possibly the best and most healthy curry house in Brighton, with over 200 dishes-with over 70 of them being vegetarian- they is so much to chose from and you can hardly go wrong with any of them.
The choices are excellent and come in mighty portions, you could even get away with sharing a dish and it still seeming like you weren't cheated out of a full meal.
The main attraction is the health conscious attitude they have towards producing their food, Serving wholegrain brown rice and grilling rather than frying their meat . And they very bold state 'don't come again if we are not the best'.
This tiny Indian takeaway has been my favourite since I moved here 5 years ago. I've never been disappointed with any choice.
They claim to have a healthy cooking style, I can't really verifiy it but it does taste very fresh and properly cooked.
Food took two and a half hours to arrive, the order was wrong when it finally did arrive, the staff refused to correct the mistake without an additional fee and were rude beyond belief disgracefulavoid!
