Fast, cheap, build-your-own-salad and/or couple soups that change few times a week - what else would you need for healthy lunch. And it's only good for lunch because it closes early.
P.S. soup refills!
A promising-looking salad bar, and the soups have free refills --- which was definitely worthwhile on the Gemüsecreme (veggie cream). Two bowls full and a few pieces of bread made a stellar warm-up on a dreary day.
Add a fast-moving line and plenty of community tables, and this makes an excellent quick lunch, even for a sizable office group. Certainly not a date destination, though.
I'm a little unconvinced by the pineapple-chunk Hawaiian cream soup, and the Asian veggie soup didn't grab my attention, but the chili con carne looked hearty. There's to-go containers as well if you're either enjoying the sun or chained to your desk.
My stomach was screaming so naturally I thought Soup and Salad! ;-) I have to say though I can not believe I did not come here before. I thought the food was pretty good, the service was fast and friendly, and the prices are reasonable. They also have plenty of seating, whether you are with a large group or alone it is a great place. The only downside I could find here was that the salad bar was a bit messy and they didn't have any kind of labels on anything. I just hate playing 20 questions with salad toppings. Now most of the stuff I could obviously tell what it was but there were some special pasta salads, etc that it would have been nice to know what they are and what is in them. On the flip side, an added bonus is that they have a huge basket of bread, and apples that you can take with your meal, all included of course. I will definitely being coming back here again and again.
Souper Salad is a bit of a lunchtime staple for the Qype office. I have actually been here 5 days out of 5 a few times. The price of the salad looks a bit steep at EUR1.80 per 100g (other nearby places charge as little as EUR1), but you put your dressing on after it has been weighed, so you can easily get a good-sized salad for less than EUR5. With all meals you can also take as much bread as you like and a free apple. Through the winter though, I've mostly been sticking to the soups. They are very reasonably priced, and if you're hungry the soup is a great option as it comes with free refills. I've never managed more than one and a half bowls though! Overall it's quick, good food at reasonable prices. A great lunch spot.
I really like this restaurant and you get healthy food for reasonable prices. With the soups comes bread and you can get another portion of the soup if you want. If you still feel hungry there apels waiting for you ;-). The is tasty but not 5Stars.
Edit: 28 Aug 12: Came in here today, place was deserted and soup not on offer!! Bring back the soup!! I hope this is just a summer change :/Edit Souper salad is my top choice for a quick, filling tasty lunch. I will come here once or twice a week as it's just down the street from Qype's head office. The staff speak English, are very friendly and the place is spacious and spotless. Essentially its a comprehensive salad buffet with a fixed choice of soup or stews as well. All comes with unlimited bread, salad dressing and a free Apple! Eaten communal style on shared benches, there's always enough space the food is great!
