Gorgeous modern hotel situated between the old forts in Marseille with breathtaking views of the port! My husband and I enjoyed a short stay here and found the rooms/bathrooms to be beautiful, the service was top notch and the food was excellent. We sat just outside the hotel bar and had wine flights and appetizers while overlooking the hundreds of sailboats at port. It was a wonderful stay and if we go back to Marseille we'll definitely stay here again.
The Sofitel Marseille was a great place to spend a few nights when we arrived in Provence. We booked a suite with a balcony and went in July.
The room was not large, and I would not have wanted to spend more time there than needed. But the balcony made up for that and I'm not holding that against them. The service was excellent, which was especially appreciated when our baggage was lost en route and we had to camp out for part of the second day of our trip. The food in the outdoor restaurant and 7th floor breakfast room was really good. Better than most places we ate the entire week. The hotel is well located with great views. The reception of the free WIFI was excellent. Their exercise room was well equipped with a recumbent bike, stomach machine and enough other "stuff" to get one's blood going.
I hope I make it back to Marseilles soon so I can stay there again.
My Company used to own a petrochemical complex in nearby Berre. I was lucky enough to come to the South of France (on business no less) not once but twice!
Our hosts sponsored our dinner one night at the Sofitel Marseille and from a private dining room, we were treated an an excellent meal and a stunning clear evening view of Vieux Port area. I'm not sure I'll ever experience anything like it again.
Love it! Just for the bar and the view on the Vieux Port. Expensive of course but not that bad. It's Marseille after all: the worst city in France.
