Very fresh and good quality sashimi's! Make sure to take reservation before going there, it's usually crowded!
The other place is called Kshunka (I might be sleeping it wrong) Its much more expensive than Shunka but it worth every penny you pay!! And if you go for the tasting menu get the 110 Euro one, its more expensive but then its only 30 Euros more! It is a great experience! Their staff are very friendly and engaging specially if you sit at the bar!
I recommend everyone to go there for sure... At least to Shunka which is less expensive!
Barcelona guide book tricked us!!
This restaurant is not authentic at all!
The udon was worse than street instant udon using msg loaded "Tsuyu" and supermarket frozen noodle. And chef special sushi was just barely eatable.
This restaurant doesn't even deserve one star!
Bad service and bad food period.
Good job shunka!

Are you f***ing shunka-ing me?
We went in the evening to Shunka because we read in Barcelona travel guide it's a good Japanese restaurant. When we entered the service staff chief run in our direction as a furious tigress and told us if you don't have a reservation we won't let you in! We were shocked and while we spoke to her, local Spanish guests just entered without being questioned about any reservation! We thought she doesn't like silly tourists like us. But friends wanted really to eat sushi and insisted. She agreed and made clear we have to leave after 30 minutes!!! I was embarrassed and I would have gone but friends are supposed to be accepted like how they are and I'm glad that everyone is different and unique^^
Sushi was very delicious and tasted like sushi in Tokyo! Unfortunately the service chief was ill bred and disrespectful towards (tourists) guests. It's a pricey restaurant.
This is a higher end sushi establishment
But well worth the price, as the food is fresh as well made and the service polite and on point (even with a language barrier)! It's well appreciated and dinner seats can be hard to come by so attempt reservation or lunch. I had tajo kimuchi, Kani maki, sake maki, toro tataki nigiri, ikura nigiri, and each was absolutely exceptional. Do be prepared to experiment because they don't carry all of the staples ( for example, no waksme salad), but you won't regret it!
If you want to know what authentic Japanese food tastes like, this is the right place. Now a days, most Japanese restaurants are more fusion rather than traditional, but at Shunka it's the real deal. When you enter it's small restaurant you actually believe for a second you are in Japan. You can eat at the bar and watch the amazing experts in each section do their thing or at a table. I recommend the bar, because in each section you will see a specific sushi master, one to make the maki, one to make the sashimi...etc it's incredible to watch, almost a show really!!! I highly recommend!!!
very good japanese restaurant, maybe the best of Spain. I prefer the tables near the cooking, fantàstic!!!
