We decided for Indian take out today. I had been to Shri Bheema years ago and enjoyed it, so we gave it a try. Although we made a fairly standard choice, the quality of all dishes was outstanding. We'll definitely be back.

At last, a good Indian restaurant in Aberdeen! I was kind of skeptical before I went in because of all my other experiences in Scotland, but this one really nailed the spot.

"No need for a menu" I said. "I'll have the butter chicken" (for £8.99 w/o rice). Awesomeness in a bowl. The chicken was flavorful, moist, and tender. Very nicely made and cooked on a skewer (and possibly in a Tandoor oven). Major points were given to them as there were large amounts of chicken! There were at least 8 or 9 good pieces. The gravy was just as good. It was not over salted and hit all the right notes I was looking for. The only minor negative was the rice (£2.99). The rice was not as aromatic as other basmati rice I had, but they were generous with the portion.

Service was friendly and tentative. More points given!

Overall, this place makes excellent butter chicken, has good portions, and is fairly priced. In fact, I tried giving a tip and the server said "oh, I just needed a signature. You can just scratch it out". Awesome! Plus you get a little piece of chocolate with your bill.

I wish I was here during their lunch buffet. I would love to give it a try!

Picture this.. A colleague of mine insisted we go to Shri Bheema's- I didn't know what type of restaurant it was until he told me. I'm from the states.. Good Indian food is hard to come by where I live, so I don't have it that often.

      [One Hour Later]

I'm trying to think of reasons why I need to come visit again because the food was that amazing!! It was everything I could hope for.. Fantastic food, an enjoyable atmosphere, and great service!

I don't know when, or how, but I will have Shri Bheema's again!!!

I visit Aberdeen regularly on business and I've tried a lot of curry houses over the years. I must say, how this little gem escaped me I simply have no idea. It has to be, hands down, the best Indian restaurant I've tried in the city. Not only is the food delicious, fresh and fragrant but the menu is very reasonably priced, a real novelty for the oil capital of Europe!
The restaurant has a great homely feel, the food traditional and also of note is the wonderful friendly service (despite it being a tad slow at times and also some confusions with our bill).
It may be located on one of Aberdeen's busiest drinking streets but this should not put you off. Highly recommended!

Coming from Los Angeles, I realize that UK Indian food is some of the best outside of their country and this place did not disappoint. The curries are excellent and the tandoori chicken was succulent and gorgeous.

When ordering watch the chili rating beside each dish. One pepper was pretty spicy so I can't imagine what the three pepper rating would do to one's constitution.

The best meal we had in Aberdee.

My friend and I went to the restaurant last month during the lunch time. They only had all you can eat menu available and the dishes were very average. I've been to many Indian restaurants in Europe and this was a huge let down.

The unassuming entrance gives no clue as to the delights that await inside! The menu is not the bog standard list you get in most indian restaurants. A wonderful selection of dishes from across India, with the friendly and helpful staff happy to explain what they are to the uninitiated. I ended up going for a familiar Byrhiani which did not disappoint! A mountain of utterly delicious food was delivered to our table, a good kick of spice but not overpowering. The fact that it could be washed down with a Brewdog Punk IPA was the icing on the cake! I think the only very minor negative was the staff actively requesting online reviews for the restaurant. With food and service like they provide the reviews will come regardless. Can't wait for a return trip soon!

      First to Review

Newly opened in the City Center. A good mix of North and South Indian food. Very reasonably priced. Thalis are value for money. Have not personally tried the afternoon buffet but have heard that it is good esp the Lamb Dahiwala.

Have had the Ala Carte dinner there - excellent food. The Lamb Kothu Paratha was really good. The South Indian dosas ordered by my friends were also very good.

Maybe it is a start up the service has to improve - there were eight or nine people going around around but clueless.

Ordered some scotch - they dont have the right glasses to serve whiskey. The Mango lassi ordered did not come for over half an hour. Had to remind them.

Gave us the starters and without saying anything moved away the dinner plate - maybe they need to have quarter plates for the starters not the dinner plates.

After the starters it was a looooong wait for the food. A child with us had ordered for plain dosa along with the appetizers - it only came with the main course

For the Sambhar with the Dosa no spoons were given - had to ask for it. The waitress tried to convince us that we did not know how to eat a dosa - the right way was to dip the dosa in the sambhar and not to use a spoon. With some persuation we finally managed to get the spoons.

Asked for water - the jug was put on the table and had to ask for the glasses.

Ordered the gulab Jamuns - told them that we will be sharing it and to service them individually. Served them as a pair - had to ask them for separte bowls. The Gulab Jamuns were hot and really worth the wait and effort.

Credit card machine did not work - luckily had enough cash.

Overall a place for really good food - but dont expect the service ( my take is that that the servers are kids off the block who have been put on the job without any training) and go with lots of spare time and loads of patience - you will need them and food will taste very nice

Followed up the earlier dinner with the afternoon buffetWent for the Sunday afternoon Buffet - for GBP 9.99 it is a steal. Good mix of South indian and north indian. Excellent food. My friends commented that it is probably the best Indian food they have had in their 8 years in Aberdeen. The service was much better bringing out Hot Dosas and Naans. The Lamb with Drumstricks was really different and wonderfully unique.

If they keep up the excellent food and improve the service - Aberdeen has a winner.
