I feel lucky to say this is my local pub. Although it looks a little too fancy from the outside, don't be deceived as it has the perfect measure of loveliness and coziness inside.
The staff is always friendly, if busy most of the time. It's a popular spot- especially on Friday and Saturday evenings.
They have a good selection of Cask Ales, and they will let you sample them before you commit to buying anything.
I still haven't tried anything off the menu, but all the dishes they bring out look and smell delicious.
The food is equally cheap yet very hit and miss, had a poor steak recently.
It appears to take an age to get served, regardless of how busy it is. If you are the only person there with 3 staff behind the bar somehow it can still take 10mins to get a drink! NOT GOOD
I have worked near the Ship Ashore for almost 8 years and over this time I have seen it change from not the nicest pub in the world to somewhere you don't mind spending a lunch hour for drinks/food.
In the summer there is a lovely pub garden where you can sit and chat with friends over a drink.
Friday lunch times can be a bit busy - but there is usually enough stuff to get through the rush.
Food is your usual pub grub - reasonably priced and tasty for the price.
Not experienced the pub at the weekends so not sure what its like.
Parking is available outside within the local centre.
