nice and quiet
This is a really nice and quaint local pub.
It's tiny weenie inside, but has loads of original features and some not so original, but cool - like some 80s arcade games!
The pub even has it's original tiny wooden door, and low ceilings.
The locals and staff are really chatty and friendly and the beer is competively priced for the local area.
Despite the tinyness of the pub, there are still darts (and a darts team), regular pub quizes (with free sandwiches!) and other entertainment events.
This pub is well worth a visit if you appreciate the historical building and interior, but also like to relax in a friendly local pub.
I spent many an evening in here in 1967/8 when living at 2 Duffield Road,in the flat above the Post Office.Beer was about 2/- a pint then!
I visited recently (Nov 09) and found the P.O. replaced with a fast food shop but the pub was much the same ,including the glass door over the old well.Long may it remain!! Peter K.
