I hadn't reviewed Schuhbeck's Check Inn, in spite of having been here before, because it didn't make much of an impression on me the first time I visited it. It was a couple of years ago and we'd gone out for the evening, ended up there for cocktails, and left because it was noisy, crowded and worst of all difficult to get served. However, I have to say going for lunch was a totally different kettle of fish (or in my case plate of poulard). The restaurant was immaculate and the staff very welcoming, even though I was on my own and having just come out of physio not that smartly dressed. I'd been desperate for something to cheer me up, and they delivered.
I ate off the "Quick Lunch" menu, and could only manage a main course, @ EUR10.90 but you can mix and match with starter + main or main + desert for EUR 15.40 or all three for EUR 19.90. Now for this area it's not cheap, and the portions aren't huge, but everything was very tasty (breast of poulard with parmesan chips and pan fried vegetables), nicely presented and the service was great. And folks, you get what you pay for, and when they said "Quick" they meant it. If I'd been on a lunch-break there wouldn't have been any problem. Best of all you can watch planes take off and land and imagine yourself "elsewhere".
