I'm glad I checked this place out based on Robelle C's "You can smell the fish sauce!" enthusiasm. It IS a bit on the pricey side, but the ambience is leaning toward the elegant; the service is warm and attentive; the beer is from Thailand; and the food.... oh, the food.
I had a nice green curry, a fried softshell crab sitting on a pile of delicious, some spring rolls, and some banana swimming in coconut milk for dessert. I asked for my curry to be spicy, and I got just what I wanted: enough spice to open up the ol' sinuses, but not so much that I could no longer appreciate the complexity of the curry.
If I end up back in the area, I'll certainly return.
This thai is die for!! The food is some of the best thai food you could have, The menu is extensive and the ingredients fresh and tasty even the rice is yummy. From mussles to lobster the sea food is full of flavour.
The decor itself is quaint the restaurant is split over 2 floors with a wrought iron spiral staircase connecting them with cute lights leading you up to the next floor.
The service is equally good the staff are knowledgable and helpful and real value the customers so much so that during my visit we were locked in way after they had stopped serving so our night could continue.
for a meal for 2 you're looking at around £60 (unless you opt for the lobster) and its well worth it.
Sangdao thai is a big reccomendation if you're ever in the area its right on the high street, easy to find and the best thai around.
The food is authentic! You can smell the fish sauce! I am partial to the cheaper bigger portions served in the States but at least this Thai food tastes great! I will be coming back!
its ok. but taste is changed for english people. and bit felt expencive.
