3 reviews for Sandemans New London Tours
All Reviews
A friend had told me about Sandemans before my recent trip to London, and when I saw an advertisement for the free walking tour on the back of one of my many travel brochures, I convinced the fam to try it out.
Totally awesome!
Our tour guide, Jo, was uber-cheery and knew a ton about the city's history. The group was fairly large but I had zero issues hearing or seeing or understanding. I learned far more in this 3 hour tour than I did from the hop-on-hop-off bus tour, and again it was FREEEEEE. I would highly recommend the tour to anyone going to London, and would definitely take one in any of their other cities.
I see nothing wrong with free tours. Sure they're cheesy and you're in a group following over-zealous individuals carrying flags, but they're engaging, provide a lot of knowledge, and the free Royal London tour is always a good starting point. Basically, I know the places I want to come back to on the rest of my trip after a free tour through the basic places.
I knew I wanted to come to evening choral service at Westminster Abby. I knew I wanted to go to the National Gallery and have lunch in Trafalgar square. I knew I wanted to spend a day reading a book in Green Park/Hyde Park. You don't need to reserve a place on the tour and they meet in very accessible locations (available in English and Spanish!)
I didn't go on the Old City tour since it was about 9 quid, but I used their suggestions to go to the Tate, Tower Bridge, St Pauls and a few other places.
But one of the best aspects of the New London Tours: the pub crawl (discount is you went to a free tour as well!)
They take you to 4 bars and 1 night club for about 11 quid. Free drink at some, drink specials at others and no cover/queue jump at the night club. Especially if you're traveling alone, it's a great way to meet new people for a fun evening.
In short, these tours offer history, cheap/free entertainment for travelers, nice walks in the city and copious amounts of alcohol. (Available in other cities as well) Does it really get better?
Home of the famous free tour!!!!
They offer 4 tours in London
-Royal London Walking Tour
-The Old City of London Tour
-The Grim Repers of London Tour
-Sandemans New London Pub Crawl
What's best about these tours are they don't require reservation and meet in four convenient locations. You learn a lot because the guides are full of knowledge and engaging They strive to keep you interested because they work off tips you give them at the end.
Don't forget to try their tours in other cities: Amsterdam, Berlin, Dublin, Edinburgh, Hamburg, Jerusalem, Madrid, Munich, Paris, and Tel Aviv
