An independent hair dressers on Gloucester Road, Samuel David offers good customer service and high quality hair dressing.  Clearly I can't speak for the ladies, but I've always been pretty happy with the cuts they've given me here, and at prices that never hover too far away from 15 quid for a proper men's cut you can't go far wrong.

There seems to be a lot of staff, but they're all equally well trained and competent hair dressers, with bearable unobtrusive chit-chat to get you through the 20 minutes of chopping. I've always liked the fish tank at the back of the shop, which is a nice feature and definitely a talking point whilst you're getting washed.  It's clearly been tried and tested by the industry too, as they received a 5star in the Good Salon Guide a couple of years ago,so my high opinion of them is backed up by the experts!

Samuel David is, yes, you've guessed it, another hairdressing salon on Gloucester Road. It's sleek and stylish (as you expect from most hairdressing places these days). I like the inside decor, it's very regal and eye-catching, and they always have very attracting advertisement on the display window, but apart from that there is not much to set it apart from the rest in the nearby area.

They do a mean haircut, but at a mean price. If you are ok with splashing the cash for something original and special, then make a booking, but otherwise there are many other hairdressers  not far away which could most probably do the job without leaving you gasping for breath at paying time.

Oh, and they have a very handy online booking system which means you don't have to pick up the phone and waste valuable credit.

This used to be my local hairdressers when I lived in the Bishopston area and I never left disappointed.
I recommended them to everyone I knew and most of my housemates subsequently became regulars too.

As a bonus, they offer a student discount during the week.
I can only vouch for the stylists however, as I've never had my hair dyed or permed here.

Not impressed. Danielle spent a good 10 mins discussing how she would cut my hair and then gave me a 'short back & sides', completely ignoring or mistrusting her original style plan. This would not have been so bad had I not been trying to grow my hair and had not had it cut for 7 months. There was more of my hair on the floor than on my head and all I wanted was a tidy by a good stylist. I will NOT be going back.

From the business

As a 5 star salon we, of course, offer all hair services but specialise in hair colouring and hair cutting.

Our stylists will take great care to ensure the colour service you receive is right for you, will fit with your lifestyle and be most importantly what you want.

The colour system we use is kind to your hair, contains no parabens and is made from plant Milk proteins. We also offer an ammonia free colour system and a direct colour which is made from 98% natural pigment and uses no activators so perfect for a refresh as will only take 15 minutes to process.

Established in 2007.

Opening our doors for the first time on a sunny September morning in 2007 our first salon, based on Gloucester Road, was a modern shining example of a 5 star salon.

The stylists were ready, the phone started to ring and the clients arrived to their allocated time slots.

Within 6 months we were running a busy salon and started looking for a second site. Whilst following a traffic diversion I stumbled across an old ladies fashion shop in the sleepy village of Westbury-on-Trym that was up for rent. We made some inquiries and within a few months we had our second site.

Although Westbury-on-Trym was, at the time, a fairly sleepy village it was situated in a perfect location near the Clifton downs and route to the M5.

As this branch had a much larger capacity over two floors with plentiful parking and increasing local trade we made the decision in 2012 to close the Gloucester road branch where parking was decreasing and competition was increasing.

We haven't looked back! :-)
