Saltwater is located on the top floor of the Cornerhouse in the centre of Nottingham city centre. The restaurant overlooks the city so you get a really great view of the town while you're dining, depending where you're sitting. There's also a balcony where you can stand out having cocktails in the summer, which is a nice touch too. The lighting is perfect and creates an excellent atmosphere for a romantic meal or first date. The food isn't cheap but it is delicious! They have a good selection of fish dishes, which is unusual . I tried their Seabass and it was the best I'd ever tasted. I'd definitely recommend this place!
Do go to Saltwater for the incredible outside area. As the venue is situated near the top of the Cornerhouse complex, the views (of the Nottingham skyline) are fabulous and it's a great place to chill out with friends (or a date) and a drink on a balmy summer evening.
Don't go to Saltwater for the service (slow) or the food (which can be on occasion disappointing). That said, the decor is fabulous, there's a nice crowd and it's certainly worth trying!
We like it - oh yes, we like it a lot. You sit overlooking the roofs, spires and chimneys of Nottingham - that's the first thing. It really gives you a completely different view of the city - and one that is quite beautiful. In fact, there's a balcony - open in the summertime for drinking your cocktails and champagne - smashing!
The food is very nice. Traditional western cuisine cooked well, and specialising - unsurprisingly - in fish. They have a good selection of tempting fish dishes to try, in both starters and mains. The desserts have always been a hit with my wife. However, although the coffee is good, they've gone a bit too European with the size of coffee cup - I like my tongue to be wet from the coffee - one shot does not suffice!!!
You can eat here on a budget if you order carefully, or if you take advantage of their lunch time two/three course menu.
Later in the evening it turns a bit more bar-esque, and is a nice place to drop in for a drop of something warming after the cinema, before bed!
Saltwater is situated on the second floor of the corner house complex in Nottingham. As this is very much a purpose built entertainment site you could be forgiven for expecting the Saltwater bar to simply be another standard mainstream pub....but it's not.
It has a few extra little bits to it that make it an attractive place to go for a drink and it attracts a pretty socially sophisticated crowd - emphasis on SOCIALLY sophisticated!
The lighting is quite moody in parts and it is split into two bar serving areas. One at the front on your right as you walk in and one towards the rear along the left wall.
There is also a balcony area outside this bar which provides great views over the rooftops of Nottingham city centre. It is certainly worth taking your drink outside in the Summer, although now we are in Winter it might be preferrable to snuggle into one of their leather sofas and just look out the window instead.
This bar is located on the top floor of the Cornerhouse complex in Nottingham town centre.
I have only ever visited the bar, but believe it also offers dining facilities as there is a restaurant towards the back.
The drinks are on the expensive side and the bar attracts stylish affluent people. The bar staff have always been very plesant and it is nice in the summer as you can stand out on the roof-top terrace and while away an afternoon with friends.
This pub isn't very stag-do friendly and I have seen several stag-do's turned away over the last few years.
It should be mentioned that the bar serves a wide range of cocktails and premium lagers.
The first time I went here, I was so impressed I booked another table for my Dad and I, thought I would treat him. Unfortunately, maybe my beer goggles were on the fist time as the second, the service was very poor and the food didnt match up either. However I was so impressed the first time that I would give it another time. Maybe they were having an off day.
My and some friends have been here a number of times for a drink and a chat, the interior is really nicely designed, and they have tables and patio heaters outside which is always great in the summer months, during the week is good when it's not as busy like a saturday night there's room to sit and it's more private, they sometimes have live music too which always goes down well
This is an expensive restaurant which is housed beyond a stylish bar (with great summer terrace) but I was impressed with the food and friendly service on the two occasions I've eaten here. Nice for a treat, an occasion or a date.
Lovely nottingham bar with a balcony, exellent place to have a drink before going to the cinema which is in the dsame building.
I used to go to Nottingham University and Saltwater was one of my favourite places to go for drinks. It's lovely on a summer evening - a really sociable place with an outdoor area which isn't just for smokers! Drinks are quite a bit pricier than other pre-club bars we used to frequent but it's worth it as one of the nicer bars in Nottingham.
This is a great place to start a night out or have a pre cinema drink. It's especially nice in the summer with it's balcony terrace.
Only been here on a few occasions but really like it. The atmosphere is great, especially if you get a seat on balcony/terrace area outside. For me this is an ideal place to have an after work drink or catch up with friends would certainly recommend it!
Great location. Saltwater is the perfect place to go for a few evening drinks, especially in the summer when you can sit outside. The food is tasty but the portions are small and it's quite pricey. The staff can be a bit snobby. It's definitely worth a look.
Lovely cocktail bar with a heated balcony, but the best bit is the restaurant its the best in nottingham !
