Ate there last night and it was lovely. When we went in we were greeted immediately by a friendly waitress. We were taken down the spiral staircase to the restaurant area (upstairs is where you wait for takeaway).
The decor and furniture is basic, it could do with a make over. But on to the food.
We ordered the vegetarian set meal for two £17.50pp. We had a delicious veggie platter for a starter, comprising Thai corn cake deep fried sweetcorn in red curry paste, deep fried veg and mini spring rolls with 3 dips sweet chilli and a cucumber dip.
For mains we had:
SUPREME FOREST Mixed vegetables in green curry with coconut milk served with steamed Jasmine Rice.
PAD THAI JAE Stir fried rice noodles with egg, bean sprouts and bean curd in palm sugar and tamarind sauce.
Tao Hoo Him Ma Parn Stir fried bean curd with cashew nuts, baby corn, spring onion.
Pad Pak Ruam Jae Stir fried mixed vegetables with soya sauce.
Desert was either cheesecake or 2 scoops of ice-cream, we had one of each.
Our bill came to £51.30. That included 2 large white wines @ £4.50 each and 2 Tiger lagers @ £3.00 each. Plus we were given prawn crackers when seated, which we thought were complimentary, but £1.30 was added to the bill for this, it's not much but we don't eat them.
The food was absolutely yummy and I'm not a fan of Oriental food. The service was friendly and staff polite and always smiling. Will definately be recommending.
We were staying at the Marriott in Chesnut(Worst Marriott we have stayed at but that's another story) Sala Thai Was on the hotels recommended local restuarants and was one aspect they were totally correct about.
Amazing Authentic thai Food, Service was amazing, Food Quality fantastic and amazingly 3 courses for 2 with wine came to just over £50, Better Then most Thai's in London that cost 3x as much and in a beautiful period setting in a beautiful town to top.
Very friendly.. but the potions were very small.. no more than 5 or 6 pices of meat in the thai curry dishes
