    The Wych Hill branch of SMC is the new car sales centre and main dealer for Renault in Woking. It's also the location of the major servicing centre and parts facility.

    Staff in the servicing facility are very helpful and will explain what work needs doing in a clear and concise manner. All work is agreed up front.

    There is a good waiting area with TV, papers, refreshments and even colouring stuff for the kids. Toilets are available.

    While you wait servicing is possible but so too are courtesy cars and lifts/deliveries as appropriate.

    All cars are valetted before being redelivered.

    The new car dealership is equally impressive. Staff are pleasant without being too pushy. Test drives are comprehensive and staff will let you decide what you want to see.

    You can negotiate here but how sucessful you are will depend on so many factors.

    The branch offer a great follow up service on both sales and servicing with your satisfaction being checked at all times. Reminders are sent for services and there are often discount vouchers given to tempt you back making the main dealer servicing far more reasonable than is often the case.

    In 2007 I ordered a new Renault Clio from the SMC Renault Group.
    A letter was sent out saying order was cancelled (admin error).
    When I took delivery of the car, the seat, door cards where damaged and there was no fuel in it, this was just the start of three and a half years of living hell.

    Consider the car has only done 1350 miles and most of these where done by SMC and going to and from SMC.

    The car was used for my work for a few hundred miles approx where the rear seats where never used the passenger seat was used once and the boot for carrying stock.

    two in Woking. The Managing Director Mr James Kimber has never once said sorry and seems to avoid customer contact. I found it difficult to get any sense from the garage. I resorted to corresponding to Black Horse Finance and Renault UK for help but they stood by the dealer and not me the customer.

    SMC Guildford got to the stage where they refused to work on the car and refused to take it from the AA. It was at this time I was thrown off the premises and started legal action against SMC.
    SMC stopped trading and closed its doors so I perused Black Horse, there staff moved to their other branches.

    After a long fight at lots of money a was able to claim through the Financial Ombudsman who found in my favor that the car was not fit for the purpose. Black horse never argued the fact.
