This is a wonderful place for breakfast. This morning we were lucky to get a table, as normally on a Saturday morning this gem of a spot is crammed with people of all ages. It has a wonderful homely atmosphere, and the most amazing home made brown bread with walnuts and pumpkin seeds in it!
We ordered three different breakfasts this morning. I had the Vital Fruhstuck, which comprised of a glass of OJ, three different brown breads with the following toppings: scrambled eggs, hummus and tomatoes, cream cheese and cucumber; and a bowl of yummy yoghurt covered muesli with fresh fruit on the top. My Mum had a bowl of fresh fruit salad, and the scrambled eggs, and my boyfriend had the Italian breakfast, which was a huge plate of Rohschinken with aubergines and pesto, and other yummy things. We all had black coffees. The waitress was really friendly and helpful, bringing us an English menu without any hassle, and checked with us periodically to see if everything is okay - this can be a rare thing here!
All in all, a must try in the 3rd district, the bread is super fresh and everything we have ever tried there has been better than great. Their philosophy is "Baking as it was long ago", and wow, you taste it!
The damage? Around 15 € each, that included two coffees each, and amazingly fresh food.
The baked goods are delicious and totally worth it, but the service is a little too... Absent! ;-)
It was by far the best breakfast in town. Good food, nice atmosphere, the bread is incredible but the stuff isn't always friendly. Got more expensive over time and the quality dropped. Still, it is good and a lot cheaper than their neighbours "Joseph Brot."
Recommendation: The honey (you can also purchase a glass) and their "Vorarlberger Käse" (cheese).
