Rose and Co is one of those shops that isn't actually like a shop at all. I'ts an experience- a fantasy! From the minute you step through the door it's like stepping into a different world. It simply oozes old fashioned glamour.
Downstairs has recently been re-vamped much to my delight. More changing rooms have been added and there is more reproduction clothing featuring styles from the 30's, 40's and 50's. I have my eye on a beautiful 1930's hat in mint condition.
If you are into all things vintage it's also worth checking out a burlesque night called the Wet Spot (you can buy the tickets from Rose and Co). But you have to be pretty quick off the mark as the tickets sell out in no time. Rose and Co is a fantasy shop but you leave feeling genuinely happy and thats no bad thing!
If you head down County Arcade, make sure you pop into Rose and Co, it's a beautiful little boutique; the upstairs is restored into a Victorian styled apothecary shop: selling handmade and hand-wrapped soaps, balms, candles, lotions and potions, each being packaged in traditional tins, jars and French glass bottles. They also have unusual gifts and some really lovely and quirky home goods.
But you have to go downstairs to fully appreciate this shop. They stock vintage revival dresses made by Stop Staring and Pin-up Girl. Both of these are American based companies, and Rose and Co have very kindly brought their fashions across the Atlantic to our doorstop. The dresses range from £30-£100 and they stock sizes 8-24 so there really is no reason why you shouldn't treat yourself to a little vintage outfit. They also stock some really gorgeous lingerie by Sista-shei and So-Shei, and What Katie Did: some really fantastic faux vintage lingerie and hosiery designers. So if you are looking for a beautiful vintage girdle, bullet bra or corset, look no further!
Rose & Co is a girly shop. Let's be honest - their selection of soaps shaped like cakes and the 50's get up is very girly indeed.
However if you have a girlfriend who's into that sort of thing, Rose & Co is a lifesaver! I've bought my girlfriend a few things from here in the past and she's loved every one of them.
A premium soap and fragrances shop in Leeds Victoria Quarter, definitely worth popping in when you're in town.
A great place to buy gifts have a splurge, or treat yourself on a bad day. Everything smells and looks so amazing and sugar coated.
The clothing range downstairs is also great selling vintage reproduction lines such as Stop Stairing! Vivienne of Holloway, Wheels and Dollababy, and Betty Paige lines, and more, also have some gorgeous footwear, lingerie and accsessories.
A beautiful shop, in which attention is paid to every detail. The faux cakes are arranged perfectly on little stands, the salves and potions are neatly arranged in the original apothecary cabinet. A truly gorgeous little shop which revels in everything 50s and kitsch. The staff are polite and helpful without being overbearing, and they look so adorable in the brown and pink 50s style uniforms. This shop makes me want to leave my job and come work here. I visit not jsut to buy the products but to expereince the place too. The palce doesn't fail in making my come out feeling a little more relaxed, a little happier and a little more smily.
Rose and Co is a fabulous boutique in the upmarket Victoria Quarter in Leeds. It's a celebration of beauty for beauty's sake not just the beauty products themselves, but the packaging, the décor and vintage curios that adorn every inch of the shop. Lotions, balms and brands such as Burt's Bees, Dr Hauschka are displayed in the small open drawers of an old mahogany apothecary chest, while perfumes and vintage curios line the glass cabinets on the surrounding walls. Downstairs, vintage lingerie and fashion are displayed alongside old-style mirrors and more retro curios. It's a glimpse of a bygone time where life was altogether more beautiful. Slightly pricey but completely exquisite!
