After going to a salon in Reading for years, I decided to have my hair cut here by Caroline after a couple of friends recommended her.
I found the whole experience to be really enjoyable, from the massaging chairs to the constant offer of hot drinks! Caroline was really good and did exactly as i asked and made suggestions of what she thought would suit me too. Only downside was i did think it was a little on the pricey side, even with the discount currently being offered!
Will definately be going back.
Nice hairdressers with upstairs beauty salon. Sell TIGI and GHD products.
The staff are friendly and welcoming. The only thing I find uncomfortable is the glass front as I dont like people being able to see in as it is a quite large glass window.
The beauty salon often has deals on which are advertised in the local newspaper and in the window.
You can choose which level of hairdresser you would like, and you can often have free haircuts by students.
Such an insulting experience!
I usually get my hair cut in London where I work - but was having trouble making an appointment that suited me, so I thought I'd try a local place
I booked the appointment over the phone, explained I'd never been there before and asked for a senior stylist.
When I turned up this older guy was my stylist and from the off he was really quite rude and abrupt with me. After a few minutes he mentioned that he doesn't normally cut hair anymore and asked who recommended me.
From this I took that he was the salon owner and explained no-one recommended, I just called. His response was to say well really they shouldn't have booked you an appointment as I don't see new people. He very much gave me the impression that I should be grateful to see him and that really I was beneath him as a client!! I mean I really did feel like I was wasting his precious time and that I was somehow unworthy.
And the best of it is that it was a really bad haircut. He didn't listen to what I said about the curl in my hair, so cut it too short and with layers that wouldn't work. He then blow dried it so it was bouffant and frankly dated in look.
Then finally he insulted me by saying that as it was mousy it was the perfect canvas for some highlights! I mean really!!!
All in all not a great experience.
Fantastic place. Their prices are the best in town (trust me i just called every hairdresser in Newbury to be shocked by the prices). I've always used a trainee hairdresser at the cheaper price and had a great experience. You still get all the same touches as at the higher price, and i've never been dissappointed with my cut.
