I was looking for some summer orientated clothing and so popped in to River Island to check out their latest offerings recently. I remember that I always used to enjoy their styles so was hoping to pick myself up something decent for the mini heat wave - even if it was only to last a week!
Sure enough I saw loads of stylish bargains. They had some awesome dusky pink vintage style shorts that went straight in the basket! The range of clothes was quite varied, with plenty of casual wear mixed in with the latest summer colours and new vintage inspired looks. The shop was in a bit of a state but you can forgive this given that a huge sale was afoot and customers can in general be quite careless.
Nonetheless I managed to pick up three or four items for the summer for under fifty quid so I was pretty chuffed. The staff were lovely and cheery in spite of the odd menacing angry customer, the heat was on and people were getting seriously pushy, but they remained pleasant and helpful so that's always a bonus!
I bought a dress from here a month ago and already the dress is starting to fade after being in the wash I have worn it about 2-3 times. Great price and quirky design really liked it at first
I've just had another BSE (Bad Shopping Experience), and it was in here. Technically I wasn't shopping - I was returning a shirt that Steve bought for £32.99 which he's washed twice as per the tag instructions and now it looks like a child's it's so teensy. The sales assistant was really very difficult and grumpy and not helpful at all and so I'll be making a complaint. You can't be selling shoddily made shirst for £33, no sirree. Take that, River Island!
They are forever changing their image and they never seem to get it quite right. The clothes don't seem be very good quality these days and are a bit overpriced. I tend to avoid River Island when I'm whizzing around the shops as it seems to be catering towards the younger crowd. I'd much rather bag myself a bargain from H&M!
I love River Island. The store is really big, and has a wide selection of clothes and accessories. The changing rooms aren't too big, and are nice to use.
I find that some things are quite expensive in here, but the quality of the clothing is such that I don't mind paying the extra.
They don't have sales very often, but when they do, it's worth going to bag a bargain.
River Island located in Leeds city centre is a fair sized clothes shop which on the ground floor features womens clothes and shoes and in the basement mens clothes and shoes. I find that you need to have a good browse as they do sell a lot of over priced rubbish but occasionally you will find a gorgeous piece you have to have at a reasonable price. The shoes are very nice and suited best for occasion wear. The mens wear is very trendy and reasonable though my fiance did moan that the shoes are a bit small fitting. Overall not my favourite clothes shop in Leeds but a great place to look for some pretty fashionable ladies shoes or a key piece for a special occasion.
