Resurrection Records is a rarity and an absolute find - that is if you like Goth, Industrial, Punk & Metal music, and luckily enough I do.
This ain't no HMV 'goth/industrial' section in the corner with the same Projekt compilation which has been there for years gathering dust. Resurrection Records has a well maintained stock, offering the very new and old alike.
They've been around since the early 90's, and to still be in business at the same Camden location, where property values keep rising as does the rent for shops, is a testament to their business.
Not only will you find an impressive selection of CD's alphabetized and categorized by genre, but there's also a very good vinyl section (yay!!!!). Searching for vinyl in these music genres can be hard enough, but to locate it all in one place is amazing. So if you find yourself getting rid of vinyl (egads why!?), and before you bin that Creatures or Rosetta Stone LP you may find that Resurrection Records will happily take it off your hands for a fair price.
Besides music, there's new and second-hand zines, magazines, DVD's, videos, and concert tickets.
Now to actually find the shop, blink and you might miss it. Despite going there for years it always takes a bit especially on a busy Saturday to remember which hidey basement shop is the right entrance.
It's the first shop next to a cafe on the corner of Hawley Crescent and Camden High Street. If you pass Cold Steel Piercing on the High Street, you've gone too far. And it's in the basement! You need to go downstairs and then into the rear of the shop to find it.
I absolutely love this place. They're really specialists in these music fields and you'll find loads of information about new releases and upcoming shows posted in the shop. In all my travels I've never encountered a shop dedicated to these music genres solely as Resurrection Records is. They're music enthusiasts and helpful. If you're after some rare vinyl as well, just ask as they stock some of that behind the counter. They also have an online site you can order from if you're nowhere near Camden. resurrectionmusic.com
A great music store in an almost hard to find location. Though it's on the high street, you enter another shop, go downstairs and through an alternative clothing shop to find it.
They cater to a wide range of music and have CDs, DVDs, vinyl and collectibles in the goth, punk, industrial, EBM, metal and others in the general alternative vein. If you can't find it, they may still be able to get it for you.
They also sell gig tickets for London and further afield venues.
The staff are very knowledgable and friendly. I've rarely gone in and not left with a purchase.
Resurrection Records is, undoubtably, the best record store in the world!
- Or at least I have not encountered anything to rival it thus far.
Though a bit hard to find (the record store is locared in the basement underneath a busy camden shop) if you have never been to the place before, it is so very well worth the search.
Resurrection Records specialice in alternative music genres such as Goth, Industrial, Metal and Punk, and here you can find very rare cds that you would otherwise have to purchase through the internet as they are not in stock in regular music stores.
Resurrection Records is a small store but they sell cds from all of my personal favorite bands and singers. It is no matter what cd I go looking for in Resurrection Records - they always seem to have it in store!
They sell rare vinyl and cds from cult bands an singers such as Emilie Autumn, Sopor Aeternus and Blutengel, but also from more well known artists of the alternative scene, such as Marilyn Manson.
Resurrection Records is also the place to go if you want to keep yourself updated in regard to what is going on on the London alternative music scene. - Inside the store there will be posters and flyers aplenty, providing you with information on upcoming gigs in London, as well as new cd releases. Also the members of staff are always up for a chat about music and local goings-on related to the alternative music scene.
This shop specialises in Industrial, Gothic and Punk music. The shop itself is quite small however, you can spend all afternoon in it picking out the rarities, limited editions and everything else you wouldn't find in H.M.V. The prices can range from being average to being on the slightly expensive side. If you are a music lover and an avid CD buyer who is interested vaguely interested in any of the fore mentioned genres, then you should check it out. Gig tickets can be purchased here too.
