The presentation of the dishes and the location/view are the best parts of this place. You have a great view of Munich. The portions were small but satisfying. Service was great aside from having to wait outside the venue for a while before they were ready for us.

Where to begin, we walk in promptly to our reservation. The manager, Adam, states we are not welcome in the restaurant due to the attire not fitting his personal description of "business casual". He asked us to not wear shorts. We proceed to show him the Open Table description to confirm it does not state that shorts are not permitted. We then proceed to find pants and he states it still does not fit his personal definition and states we cannot attend our dinner reservation due to not wanting a "bad review" from others in the restaurant. This is called DISCRIMINATION. Management should reevaluate their decision to have this particular individual as the face of their company.
Dies nennt man DISKRIMINIERUNG. Das Management sollte seine Entscheidung, diese bestimmte Person zum Gesicht seines Unternehmens zu machen, noch einmal überdenken.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Erroll C.Miami, United States7141492143 Aug 2023
Manager Adam provided horrible customer service. He verbally told us he has the right to allow who he wants into his restaurant with or without reservations.
We were very polite to him and asked to speak to a manager and he became upset and said "I am the manager and I pick and choose who I want to come in.
This company definitely needs to train their staff on discrimination
Very poor customer service, very disappointedHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Claudia W.Norfolk, United States1912734726 Jul 2019

I have NO IDEA why this restaurant doesn't have a higher rating. We were on a grey line bus tour and they mentioned a rotating restaurant at the top of the Munich tower. I called from the bus and asked if they could seat us. To my amazement, they did and we were glad to get off!
We ordered the 3-course lunch and it was amazing. I've posted a picture of the menu and food.
We loved it. I would highly recommend.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 15 Jan 2019
Spent a ton on dinner and really underwhelmed with the entire experience. The view is the star, but at night, it wasn't all that spectacular. Still, we felt like the positive food reviews would make up for it. Sadly, nothing really stood out. Opted for the 5 course meal but wouldn't recommend it as the extra plate was bland and disappointing. Entree was huge, which would be great if quantity was my goal, but quality was what I was going for and it just didn't work.
Dessert was the major issue as my wife's portion had a piece of plastic in it. We called attention to it and the manager told us it was congealed gelatin. We might have believed that except for the seam in the plastic. He did take off the extra course price which was very nice, but not enough.
I can't wildly recommend, but I guarantee that if you're looking for a romantic dinner, you will have a nice experience if not a perfect one.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dianne R.Birmingham, United States188527 Jun 2018
Just happened upon this place will checking out Olympia Village! Beautiful view in a revolving restaurant! The food was perfect! The best schnitzel we have! Along with the best potato salad ever! The surprising dish was the beef tips with a delicious Garam Masala sauce! Oh I could of drank this sauce! Everything was so good we could pass up desert! Apple Strudel, served warm and scrumptious! Even the strawberry ice cream was better than average ice cream. Don't miss this place!

You don't need to eat there to get the view; but If you do, you can get the views along with an unsolicited side of a a horrible dining experience. As visitors from the United States we wanted to dine at a nice venue- we did our research and picked 181. Unfortunately sometimes we all need to read the negative reviews to get the whole picture. It started at arrival at the base of the tower. The clerk clearing restaurant guests for a "free" ride to the top of the tower couldn't find our reservation. After watching her frown and fumble to locate the reservation, we proceeded to wait in line for the elevator. This is where the wheels start to fall off the wagon. The line is similar to an amusement park setup where there are automated doors to keep guests from venturing beyond the gates. We were motioned to wait by the gate. We did so per our instructions. Somehow the bald-headed heavy set man didn't like how we were waiting (still can't explain it) . In his best irate German accent he shrieked and screamed at us like a retired SS concentration camp guard from Auschwitz. This guy was so rabid that he might want to give drill sergeants from the Marine Corps some tips on condescending loud tones. All kidding aside, his tone nailed it. His career for WW2 Hollywood-extra dreams are waiting for him 6000 miles away. After getting to the top we were greeted with amazing views. As this was a family vacation, my father opted to take some family photographs and pictures of the vistas. The servers arrived while my father had his back turned with his camera pointed at the views. Rather than having any semblance of civility and patience, the server proceeded to roll his eyes. The epic arrogance from the staff at the restaurant is unparalleled. Somehow they have come to the conclusion that the customer is at the restaurant's beck and call, not the other way around. The rest of the experience had the warmth and hospitality of being hanging out with Heinrich Himmler at the Eagles Nest. You might get some once in a lifetime views but don't expect to leave with a warm fuzzy feeling inside. If you want to watch a restaurant with very best views of Munich fail at being a restaurant, try 181. But if your goal is to get some mediocre food and have memories of interacting with the ayatollahs of arrogance and negativity, you really need to give this joint a shot. Bon a petit.

We often took our guests and team there in 181. What I like about this place is that they do not cook with MSG. My cousin travel around Europe and had a hard time finding the right place to dine out due to his allergy to MSG. So, when he visited this restaurant, it gave him a big relief. The food and service was great!

Hi Nuk H,
Thank you for the nice review. As you correctly described, we cook always without glutamate. Hopefully see you soon. - Rocio S.Munich, Germany1523 Mar 2016
Great experience. We went for the Sunset time slot 6-8pm. I would recommend this time since you are able (on a nice day) to see the sunset and also appreciate the city from the top at night as well! The staff was really nice and friendly. Keep in mind the restaurant turns... very slowly, but turns nonetheless, so you are able to feel it slightly.. in case someone is sensitive to this movement, be prepared! And, of course, window seat is always the best!

We happened to be there on a special event day, with a preset 5 course menu with wine pairing. The food was very good, they were very accommodating in having a kids menu paired with non alcoholic wine. The staff was very helpful. The view from the restaurant was incredible with an outline on the glass window that showcases the landmarks in site, and you get the total panoramic view via the restaurant rotating without leaving your seat. The evening ended with spectacular fireworks.
