Beer, bitter and ale. The Red Lion is a traditional Teesdale country pub serving the community of the parish of Cotherstone. Unspoilt by modernisation and re-fits the bar provides a haven for all those who appreciate simplistic pub values. A couple of domino tables occupy the centre of the room and a dart board proudly sits above the far end fireplace. The pub is a popular venue for local group meetings and houses a variety of clubs including Teesdale Motor club. Darts and dominoes (5's & 3's) occupy the winter months with league matches running from September through to the end of March. Situated nicely on the Teesdale Way, the Red Lion makes a good watering hole for weekend walkers. Dogs, children and clean boots are all welcome at the Red and we've also an attractive little beer garden to the rear of the pub. You won't find any John Smiths on draught here, just good, sensibly priced ales produced by small brewers who care about their product.…

Very old traditional pub, small rooms & bar. No TV. Used by locals in the main. Open all day. Stopped here on a cycle ride for a drink.
