I absolutely love Qype!!!
I joined by fluke a few years ago and have been enjoying their service ever since. As a user and reviewer on Qype, I trust the members on here will review places and experiences honestly, and I always search for businesses on the site to see what people say before deciding to go there!
There have just been too many times that I've been somewhere terrible and then looked at the Qype reviews found out that others have had disappointing experiences too. I've kicked myself that I hadn't visited this site first! In fact if a place hasn't got a good review here (and I check how many reviews the reviewer's have made), then I won't go there!
It's also great to find new places, I use the App frequently to search for deals and good places out nearby, and I haven't been disappointed yet.
This site is invaluable!
It's also easy to use, just insert the name of a place and location and away you go! The social side is also fantastic and I've found the guides quite useful.
Five stars guys keep up the good work!
Cosy and quiet office. I think it's the last day it's used but my first time beeing here. Therefore i take the chance to write a review ;)
It's good to have brainstorming sessions with the Community!
i've really enjoyed the events qype have held. I've tried new food and drinks that i havent experienced before and probably wouldnt have ordered. I have never tired sushi or korean food before but i went on 2 different events and have since been back to both places with friends.
I also went on the duck tours event about 2 years ago, now i had never heard of this before so i was really impressed when this yellow tank vehicle turned up and proceeded to take us around london and them drive into the thames. I recommended this to a few friends who came to the UK on holiday to try out as i actually learnt some new information about london myself. Even though i have lived here all my life i had never been on a tour of london so didnt really know the history
On the English Qype site I am a Qype Ninja like so many other happy qypers. It equals the advanced insider status on Qype in German.
This is cool as I really like the little Ninja creatures! The Qype team is very generous towards the users of Qype I find.
What I like on Qype is that you can connect with qypers from the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, France and Austria.
I am not sure where I am registered on Qype.
I am a German.
I have been living in Wales for eight years now (Cardiff, Aberystwyth and now Machynlleth / Cardiff was the best for me!) - but I have a Qyper.de shirt. I like the cultural mixes actually.
I wonder if the French will have a different term? Must have a look.
Ever since I heard about Qype I've been a fan, telling people about it. It's fun and fab and a great way to investigate a new city before going to visit it!
How many other startups have 10 draught ales on in the office?! Only one, and that's the one in mine and danimal's dreams.
If you pop by and ask Andrew nicely, he'll "go get the guitar".
Qype, sounds like Skype.
Love the new offices.
And there is a pret right out side.
I have recently got my insider status, and this morning received my insider package!
Its great!! Got a brilliant long sleeved t-shirt, a big bag of Haribo starmix, and a qype mug!! Very good quality too, not that I was expecting anything less, of course!
I like this reviewing lark, but especially when goodies are involved!
Qype is a wonderful place to be.
The downstairs to the upstairs we all know how to party!
Get in touch and get invited.
I am generally in favour of this site, it gives a good platform for sharing reviews and personal recommendations.
However, there are I think a few teething problems, and many of the people who have tried to leave a review for my business have discovered that there seem to be too many hoops to jump through, and at times, their validation emails have not been sent through.
I wonder if the process could be improved at all as I'm sure a number of people have been put off by it.
I have ended up giving detailed instructions out to make sure it is clear exactly how you get your review to show!
Putting a 'request confirmation email again' button somewhere would be a good starter.
Keep up the good work.
The level of customer service and response times is completely unacceptable. Push hard for the sale and completely undeliver the guarantees aren't worth the paper they are written on. For the first 6 months Qype did absolutely nothing apart from take money. They are quick to pass the buck to someone else clearly have a high turnover of staff don't respond to calls or emails.
After the first round of undelivering, our company gave them a second chance to deliver their promises, and promote our business with the money they had already scammed from us. 6 months have gone by no account manager nothing heard, and despite reassurances they can't be bothered to answer any emails or phone calls. Perhaps this review may spur someone into action and give us the refund for the money taken over a year ago and providing no service
Have fun and find the journalist in you, that is my definition of qype. Thank you for making an easy to access community where our opinions can be shared.
(Having said that, I need to also point out the bad side. That is that the much promised goodies are very slow to arrive. I would have given all five stars if at least the frisbee or t-shirt or mug had arrived.
I hope to correct my review when something arrives, until then I will have to restrain myself and hold back on all the great reviews I have in my head and hopefully I will not forget all the details or erase the pictures on my phone.)
I stand corrected, one day later and I have the coolest little ninja in the universe. Thank you qype and I can't wait for the next level in qyping, master ninja, big kahuna or whatever you can think of.
First off thanks for the Qype goodies, the long sleeve T-Shirt is really nice.
As a review website I would rate Qype as number 1. It is very user friendly, easy to navigate and to add new places to the site. Also being able to add photos and videos to the review is superb.
If anyone want to start reviewing places online Qype is the place to do it.
UPDATE=STILL NO RESPONSE FROM QYPE-STILL NO NINJA GOODIES/FREEBIES AS PROMISED WHEN SIGNED UP AND GOT TO HIGH STATUS WOTH ALL THE REVIEWS!!!!
IF I GET THE GOODS THEN I WILL UPDATE REVIEWS BUT UNTIL THEN I AM NOT USING THIS SITE.
PLEASE SEND ME WHAT WAS PROMISED-I SEE OTHER QYPERS COMPLAINED AND THEY GOT THEIR GOODS!!!!
Not a good site when asking people to join and get ninja status as they dont deliver what is promised! Ninja goodies still not been sent out from months ago! DIdnt receive Virgin voucher either and spent a long long time writing reviews on my local favourite places-so time spent for nothing. Qype-if you are going to give something away then make sure you do! also answer emails when sent to you too! I think i will use another site that is worth its customer service dept. thanks
Awful never use qype! Con you into a contract! Don't answer phone calls! Don't provide you with the service that they first advise! Stay away unless you want a big bill and a contract that you can't get out off!
STAY WELL AWAY FROM THESE COWBOYS
QYPE Should be called SWIPE as in your money I will write here exactly as I see fit IE the truth of my opinion of QYPE
Sales people LIE to make the sale the follow up service is USELESS and in truth I think they are ROGUE traders
They never respond, WILL NOT REFUND even tho the basis on which I signed up was a lie, they have offered me a free ad for my other shop, I have told them NO WAY as I feel they are sharp practitioners and free or othewise I do not want MY HONEST business asc with theirs
STAY AWAY ITS ALL LIES THE STATS THE OFFERS THE SERVICE SAVE YOUR MONEY I hope they take action against me over this as its probalby the only way they communicate
Both VJ and NAtalie have failed me in regards to ALL I have asked
I am now trying to get hold of Ian Brotherston the CEO
Qype has pretty much become part of my life over the past
few years. I really like gathering information about a new place (I keep a
notebook in my bag specifically for that purpose) and writing reviews when I
get home it makes day trips much more fun! Not that I'm addicted to Qype (!) but
I often choose to visit somewhere entirely new for the sole reason of having
some new reviews to write afterwards. Many a time my husband has suggested
going to a particular place for lunch, only for me to say, But I've reviewed
that for Qype already can't we go somewhere else?!! I also take photos of
everything I review (sometimes several) and I enjoy uploading them when I get
back. Sometimes, when I've run out of places to review I'll have a
Qype Day when I go to another town and review everything I can, either on my
own or dragging my long-suffering husband around with me. That means lots of
shops to explore (retail-therapy along the way of course); lunch in one place, coffee in
another maybe a drink or two in a pub if I'm not driving! Then there are
parks, monuments and statues, galleries and so much more. Since I've been reviewing for Qype I've become much more
observant and even developed some new interests as a result, specifically in public
sculpture and also the history of interesting buildings. I've also made some good friends through Qype who have
commented on my reviews and we have subsequently discovered similar interests in
common! I've always had friendly helpful service from everyone at
Qype when I've had a question. I bought a clock through one of the Qype Deals
recently and it was faulty so I had to send it back. The firm didn't sort it
out for me but the lovely people at Qype Deals were extremely helpful they rectified
it for me and ensured that I got a refund quickly. Qype is unsurpassed as a means of finding out what places
are like when planning a trip. Reviews often give praise as well as criticism
allowing you to make a proper judgment about using a business or service; they
are more likely to be unbiased as they are customer led. I've looked at a few
other review websites which have sprung up over the past few years but, without
a doubt, Qype is vastly superior. I love Qype!! Long may you reign supreme!!!
Overall a good idea and a great public service.
English law allows actions for libel to be brought in the High Court for any published statements alleged to defame a named or identifiable individual or individuals in a manner that causes them loss in their trade or profession, or causes a reasonable person to think worse of them.
I WILL BE MAKING AN OFFICIAL COMPLAINT WITH TRADING STANDARDS.
I HAVE SENT YOU 14 EMAILS AND GET NONE REPLIED TO!
Qype is great. I've been using it for a while now and it's so useful. So useful in fact, that I had to start contributing myself, so I've written quite a few reviews in a short time. It's actually my first port of call for anything in my local area, thanks to the neat Qype smartphone app that can show me all the best reviewed places near me. Long may you survive, oh mighty Qype :) And because of my loyalty they have made me a special Very Important Qyper (VIQ) meaning I get invitations to cool events and such. This is nice, and makes me like them even more. Did I mention all the staff at the Qype events are really lovely? Well I did now. Thanks lovely Qype people!
I can haz recommendations?
Dont trust qype sales staff the are mis selling they tell you you can leave qype at any time but this is not true they tie you up in a 12 month contract dont listen to there lies
The only thing better than being at Qype is being in the pub.. Actually being in the pub all day would probably kill me, therefore Qype is better than the pub! Woohoo I work in a pub er wait anyway it's cool, so pop by.
I should be able to grade this office 6 stars... Qype's website is really far from being perfect
"allo allo this is Vincent calling from the second floor of Qype UK office" eheh certainly a bit noisier than the first floor, perhaps due to the big bell hung up on the hall :) or the guys playing with the putter machine or simply the office life!? But what an awesome place to work trust me :)
Quite simply the best place in London to be. However I am clearly biased.
Well this week I got two exciting deliveries to my house. One was my all new iPod Touch, which is heralded as one of the most important technological innovations of the 21st century, defining a new era in consumer electronics design, accessibility and function. The second, and even more importantly, was my Qype Insider goodie pack. This was doubly exciting as it was totally unexpected. Is this a regular thing, as I had a pack back when I first hit 250 points? Anyway, inside was a fab long sleeve shirt, a family size bag of Haribo sweets and an assortment of stickers. Like DMJ1962 on the Hamburg site, I must exhibit an element of British restraint. No photos of me with sticker on forehead in t-shirt outside Buck Palace. But nevertheless deeply delighted in a reserved, non-expressive way :-) Also, this is for all you non-Insiders an insight in what treasures lie ahead. Happy Qyping!!
Why are all the distances quoted on Qype in Km?
We work in miles not kilometres as indeed they do in the US too. Km means absolutly nothing to me.
Also we do need to be able to award zero stars. If I was someone looking for a review and saw 1 star I would think it meant below average, not awful!
Qype has brand new offices and I like them.
Qype is a scam!!!
I was a new business and i got a call from a qype employee Sam and she said that Qype will send 10000 visitors to my website or my money back. I signed up for it and i never got any traffic to my website, i then called qype and another employee Harvey told me that the 10000 visitors was to my qype profile alone and not to my website at all!!!!!!!!!!!
When i explained that i was mis sold the product he said i signed a contract and it does not matter what i was told over the phone and i must keep paying qype even though they were not sending anyone to my business as Sam told me in the beginning.
Their sales calls are not recorded so the person that signs you up can tell you anything to sign. Also i never signed the contract. When this fraud of a business called me i was on the train and the 'man' that took my card details sent me the contract and then said ' you do not need to sign it, just send me a reply and i will click the button for you'
I admit i was stupid to believe the lies. Please no business should sign up with this people, they are a fraud, and they will say anything to get you to enter and when you realize that it is a scam, it is too late, you can never get out!!
I will be filling legal claims against them and i hope that no one ever falls into the same scam.
If you are a business thinking of joining Qype. take my advice DONT. Their sales team spin you a pack of lies. Once they have your money you cannot get through to them on the phone. And when you do their staff are downright rude. To this day i can't see the value of what I have paid for. To add insult to injury I insisted I would only pay for 6 months of this 'alleged' service and not a recurrent charge. Lo and behold money has been taken out of my credit card and guess what not only is it difficult to get through to anybody there, but when i did manage to I was told somebody would call me back one week later nobody has called. I am pursuing this through my credit card. WHAT A DiISGRACEFUL SCAM.
Qype is a great idea, the website is helpful and easy to navigate through and using it is quite easy too. Its uder friendly and actually quite addictive, but the rewards are also very good too. It is a great website, and the reviews are really quite helpful and interesting.
Absolutely crap! I have been paying for premium membership for the past 6 months and not only I did not get a single client from this site, but I also had problem with my clients publishing reviews. One of them had to be on the site for 40 minutes without being successful so I had to call the customer services. Now the same has happened again. Customer services are useless and manager is not available?! Do not waste your money with them, facebook much better value for money.
this has been so much of a wast of time and money been with these jokers just over 3 months promised to get me business i havent even received one phone call. they said it cause ive got no reviews at first now ive got reviews im still not getting any thing. i cancelled with the bank but they still have took money out and they say ive got to see the 6 months out. i dont mind paying if they would have supplied me with the service they promised me i fill i have been conned and on top of that they have taken more money out of my account and what they should of. if i could i wouldnt even leave this with one star the service has been that poor.
i wish i read this review page before putting my business on here i never would have i really feel like qype have bent me over and pulled my pants down and gave me a good old shafting and its left me feeling abused and unhappy
Qype is scam, fraud, full of lies don't advertise your business with them.
I have sign up with qype in jun 2012, every thing was wrong on qype local business regarding my business, i have called back to ask them to correct their mistake nothing is been done till today, even i have call them twice, they did not get me a single potentioal cutomer or visitor on my business site, i was given option to cancel any time also refund if they don't get me enough potential cutomers, i called them regarding cancellation and refund, they threat me of debt collectors. qype is fraud, they ripping people off.
The office is great and the location is marvelous!!! People are always friendly and supporting! By the way, thanks for translating all the great mobile applications!
Im definitely on a Qype Hype!!! love the freedom it gives me to express myself..i've found out about many good events, restaurants and places to go through Qype!
Evening, i had a phone call today for one of the sale person from qype who was kind of rude over the phone as i didn't wanted to take on her offer. she said that my business will never perform and just said good luck and hang up the phone. i do remenber in the past some very friendly and reliable staff, where are those years? shame
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ADVERTISING WITH QYPE..IT'S A RIP OFF
After a very intense sales pitch from QYPE, we agreed to a year long contract with a money back guarantee if we did not receive 1000 visitors to our site. Needless to say We did not receive any where near 1000 visitors, and no money back. We have had virtually no contact with an account manager, and generally QYPE represents a poor investment.
AVOID QYPE PREMIUM LISTINGS AT ALL COSTS. THEY ARE THE COWBOYS OF THE ONLINE ADVERTISING WORLD! A QYPE SALES PERSON MIS-SOLD ME A CONTRACT THAT I CANNOT ESCAPE FROM FOR 6 MONTHS.
I am a small business owner with a Tea Room & Antiques Centre. I posted my new business on the Qype site and a few days later a Qype salesman (Brad I.) phoned me to try to persuade me to become a Premium Partner Listing. He said for £50 per month, we would get at least 10,000 FORWARDS PER YEAR OR A FULL REFUND. I thought this was a crazy great deal and asked him Do you mean forwards. Or do you mean impressions? (I was already advertising with Google Ad Words and knew the difference). He said forwards.it may be emails, telephone calls or clicks on your website. He also said there could be only one Premium Partner Listing & you better hurry because it's on a 1st come, 1st served basis. I signed up with a credit card there and then.
Later on, it turned out I was mis-sold the contract and the guarantee was for 10,000 impressions. It also turned out an absolute nightmare to speak to anyone about this. The only way I could speak to people was via the sales line. I spoke to the chap (James H.) who trained the 40 sales staff and he wasn't interested. As for the customer services manager (Fiona F.) she made promise after promise that she'd get to the bottom of it but was absolutely useless. I contacted her on so many occasions only in the end to be told that all they could offer me was a 50% discount!!! Along the way, I found out that they do not even record the outgoing phone calls of their cold-calling sales team. In effect, it meant that they could offer me anything that came to mind in order to get the sale (with no come-backs!).
I am in the process of putting in a small claims court procedure against Qype and fingers crossed lets see what happens!
This user has arrived from Qype, a European company acquired by Yelp in 2012. We have integrated the two sites to bring you one great local experience.
