One review for Quality Station Hotel

My lodging luck had clearly run out by the time I got to Perth. It was dinnertime on a Friday, and all the bed and breakfasts were full or wouldn't have me. I was relieved to spy the familiar logo of a chain hotel with a large parking lot. Only desperation would have driven me to settle for this decrepit dinosaur, and for 79, no less.
To be fair, the room was fine--clean, modern, satisfactory, although bare-bones on amenities. But the building itself, and all the interior common areas, looked like a relic of the 1930's. And not in the cool, crisp Art-Deco sort of way either. It was just...dingy, grimy, worn out, run down...etc. I was surprised and overjoyed to see the room after walking through the lobby and hallways. A coat of paint and some new carpet would do wonders in there. Why update the rooms but not the main floor and hallways?
And they had REAL keys, too--the old fashioned metal kind with a loop on one end and teeth on the other. Fun!
The staff were pleasant and helpful. On my way out to dinner I inquired to the lady who had checked me in about traditional music in the pubs. She answered regretfully that I would find none on a Friday night, and she genuinely seemed sorry about it (and it turned out that she was right).
This hotel is just behind the BritRail station.
