Twas all an accident. I kinda stumbled across Pudsey Flowers and Plants whilst wating for a mate to finish work for the day, and when I saw the bouquets on the front I thought oooo purdy. Flowers really do make a nice gift, especially for one who would appreciate these lovely if not temporary gifts for their colours and scents and general oxygen value.
Whilst the store is colourful and charming in it's good ole brick habitat, there isn't really anything too outstanding with regards to stock or arrangements, but it's a nice place to go for a mooch and have a bouquet made up and shipped out.
Personally I decided to have a look in due to the fact I'd managed to successfully murder my cactus, and I was looking for a replacement for dearly departed Bert, due to impending visit of the dear friend who purchased Bert, as a gift for lil ole me. They did have some lovely plants and such, but none Bert like enough to do an Ocean's 11 style Julia Roberts and pass new Bert off as old Bert.
All the usuals, with an extra point dollop for the tonnes of charm and advice and genuine concern for Bert.
You can never really go that wrong when you say it with flowers, so a decent florists is pretty essential in any local town. Furthermore it's a proven fact that having plants in your work space and home space is good for you, and I think in more ways than simply cleaning your air! So, with that in mind I decided to check out Pudsey Flowers and Plants.
What a lovely florists! They had a huge selection spilling right out on to the street - roses, daffodils, grass plants, carnations (I think?) and more than I could possibly name! I'm not too up on my flora so you'll have to excuse me on that front. The lady in the shop was really lovely and clearly couldn't wait to help me so I purchased a lovely grass plant which now takes pride of place in the conservatory. Best of all? It's still alive! This is pretty awesome given my plant history. I've even had cacti die on me. So - I highly recommend!
I don't really know too much about flowers, or florrists, mainly due to the fact that having moved house in Leeds 'umpteen' times (having been a student here) I rarely see the point nurturing and looking after a plant, it's hard enough looking after yourself at uni! However, that was then, and this is now, and perhaps I'm growing old and my approach is softening, I really do like having green things littering my home, just so long as I remember to water and care for them!
I went in to buy a bouquet for my new flat (my mum was visiting, had to make it look like I'd really gone up in the world following several years of living in grimier houses that were fundamentally uncared for). I was hovering outside for a while, I have no idea how much flowers are supposed to cost, but upon entry, the lady in there-who had noticed me hovering was pretty helpful. I bought an assortment of colourful floral things (don't ask me what they were, I haven't the foggiest) and a little potted plant for under a fiver. Not bad? Who knows, but I'll probably be going back. As said, maybe I'm softening with age..
