I have visited Prego several times before and every time it is a pleasure, the staff are friendly and attentive, the food perfectly cooked and brilliantly presented.
The atmosphere inside is calming, relaxed and puts you in mind of a family run trattoria in Rome.
I would highly recommend Prego for lunch with friends or a loved one.
I like Prego. Food is tasty and reasonably priced. The do an offer on Mondays. It can get busy on the Fri/Sat so worth booking. Someone mentioned sitting out the back. Its much better, sitting in the front is like your on show. Definitely worth a visit if you are looking for a fairly priced Italian. Yummy
Prego sell really nice and tasty Italian food. It is located in the pretty town of Newport Pagnell and there is ample parking around the back. It is perfect for lunch and dinner and is reasonably priced.
However if you walk past and it looks slightly busy (there is seating in the back) then I would not bother going in.
The past three times when it has been like this, they have just not been able to cope. The last time I went we waited for over an hour for our dinner and in the end just left. It is a shame as it is a really nice place to eat, but they just cannot cope with full capacity.
Visit on a quiet night and you'll have a really nice meal.
These guys know that restaurants are an experience as much as they are a meal service. Pleasant decor, helpful staff, exposed kitchen, good food presented attractively and timely. Often very busy especially weekend evenings, they'll try to seat groups of up to a dozen who turn up on the random off chance of seating. More expensive than Pizza Hut - but much better dining.
On our most recent visit for lunch, our party had £12 Sea Bass, £8 Caponata, £8 Pizza with fresh rocket and generous shavings of parmesan, and a £8 vegetarian pasta dish, with a side dish of salad. We nibbled on some tasty olives while we waited.
Outside seating is available. As well as three distinct ground level eating areas, there's an upstairs dining area too.
Clean, well decorated toilets. Disabled access slightly difficult because of the lack of immediately adjacent parking and some steps.
The eating area is huge, and there are plenty of places to sit. We had an excellent waiter, he was very very friendly, lively and for the next 35 mins, we were made to feel really welcome and proper guests. I really liked the food, as did the rest of my family. Overall, we love Pizza Hut, it is excellent.. Especially this branch in London! We all know its unhealthy but it makes a lovely change. We were unsure what we wanted so everyone in our group of 8 tried the Eat As Much As You Like Buffet with unlimited salad, pizza, drinks and ice cream. Though we were too full for ice cream! Highly commended.
Prego has several branches which as far as I am aware seem to be of the same high standard. Our family and friends all tend to highly rate this restaurant as it offers reasonable value for money high quality Italian and Mediterranean influenced food. It makes a change to be able to see what is being cooked for you, so you have no doubts as to how it was cooked and the cleanliness of the kitchen and its staff. The menu is reasonable for the size of the restaurant and the wine and drinks menu is quite extensive. The food is of a consistent quality and of the 6 or 7 visits I have had to this place it never falls short of expectations.
The restaurant itself is always spotlessly clean and the decor is of an Italian style. It is a bit like a Tardis as it looks quite small from the front but it wanders quite away back.
The staff are always polite and efficient and often cannot do enough for you which is a refreshing change.
I think the only negative point I would make is that sometimes some (not all) of the drinks can appear a little bit expensive (13.95 for a pitcher of Pims & lemonade seems a bit steep!!!)
Prego is well worth a visit and will deliver good Italian type food to satisfy most people I would have thought.
As others have said don't go in if you are going to be put in the back. The food here can be very inconsistent. Staff at times can appear a little disinterested. It's a shame as it is local to us. We have used it a couple of times not sure we will HO again.
