Port Olympic is a burgeoning area of the city of Barcelona. Originally built as the Olympic Village, the teams accommodation have now been transformed into trendy apartments (at very high prices it should be noted). Very clean, modern and slick with sea front bars and restaurants, this is a nice antidote to area's such as the wild Barri Gotic.
The area is easily identified by the two 'skyscrapers' (they're not really that tall) which can be seen from various points around Barcelona. Nearby there is a cinema complex which show films in English, although we'd planned to catch a movie we simply had too many other things to see and do. Barcelonata and Icaria beach are both close by (5 mins walk in either direction) and there are a good collection of seafront restaurants (much preferred than the ones further down near Port Vell).
With a view of a lovely marina it's worth taking this area in, and the walk back to the old town of Barcelona is just as appealing.
