Po Na Na is located just outside Norwich's city centre in Prince of Wales Road, known for its focus on Norwich's nightlife scene. Outside the building is unassuming, but inside offers a range of arabian and moroccan decor including lanterns and mosaics, making it one of the more attractive clubs in Norwich.
The club is often very busy during peak times such as student nights and weekends, which can make queues long and space little, but it's all part of the experience. The drinks are reasonably priced and the atmosphere is pleasant and friendly, making Po Na Na a good place to go if you want to dance out on the floor, or enjoy a casual drink with friends in one of the many more secluded areas of the club.
The music is better here than in many of the other clubs, and is generally preferable to the larger ones in the area.
Busy busy busy of an evening, especially on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday, which is quite predictable really. This is located at the top of Prince of Wales Road, in the heart of the nightlife strip in Norwich so is a popular place to meet friends and start the evening off.
Space is at a premium inside, meaning it is cosy but you soon get to make friends!
Earlier in the evening, straight after work for example, you can have a civilised conversation still over a quick drink or two.
food is available at good prices for when you get peckish during the day.
Po Na Na is located just off the main strip of Norwich, Prince of Wales Road. In my humble opinion this one of the best clubs around for dance music. Specialist theme nights such as as hip-hop, hard house, jungle etc are nightly occurences.
Dj's who have guested there include Roni Size, The freestylers, Scratch Perverts and many more famous spinners. The dance floor is a tad small so expect a few elbows in the eyes on busy nights!
There is good selection of drinks and prices are reasonable for the city.
Expect lengthy queues when busy especially on Student nights.
Its like a turkish boudoir, a bit dark and seedy and bad toilets that need serious attention. Always have to queue and wait ages to be served. Good djs on often which makes up for the setting. Student night can sometimes appear to be on everynight though.
Unfortunately Po Na Na is a shadow of it's former self (from before the chain's financial problems), however is still imho one of the very few clubs to play really good music. No commercial rubbish, just good beats ranging from funk, soul, disco, trip-hop and the like. It does get busy and is not a large place so can get hot when full. Worth a try, and also consider Havanas which plays similar music and is only 30 seconds away.
