A friend had planned a night out of pizza and theatre. We had a group of about 10 or so, with a reservation. The main coordinator was late (as usual), so we didn't order until fairly close to the time we had to leave. Because we had tickets to a show at the Greenwich Theatre, we didn't want to be late.
While our coordinator/friend was very pushy with the staff, they still handled the situation pleasantly and did everything they could to get our food out in a timely manner.
Considering how fast we ate and booked it out of there, I feel really bad for the servers that night for our table, but am impressed at their professional demeanor.
For those you not from the UK Pizza Express are a very successful mid prized franchised pizzeria. As cookie cut franchise restaurant goes they are great and deliver a consistent experience no matter which restaurant you find yourself walking into.
As a regular to the Greenwich Pizza Express, I can vouch that it is a great place to go if you want to pack your gob with some tasty Pizza.
As you already know, I'm not a fan of the old chain restaurants but I feel this branch of P.Ex. as we endearingly call it, deserves a mention & grand old 4 stars.
Now, probably like most people these days I refuse to eat in Pizza Express without a Taste card or a voucher (& I do like a voucher!) but I have to admit if you don't know where to go or have no other option or just fancy a decent meal; some wine and a place to chat, then this is the place to be. I can't visit P.Ex. without partaking in a 'Padana', it's simply delish! Everytime I've had something else, I've missed my favourite pizza and felt like I was almost being unfaithful to my first love in pizza. You can also have (believe it or not) tasty and filling salads (recommend the Pollo); delightful little doughballs and scrumptious desserts too - and then feel like you need to be rolled out! Ah well, the diet (always) starts tomorrow.
This branch is always busy and with a nice and buzzy atmosphere and with great and friendly service.
Located in a handy Greenwich location; close to the DLR; shops; market and Picturehouse, what more could you ask for?!
Stellar restaurant, I went with my girlfriend and the food was amazing. But don't get the American pizza because my girlfriend spent the night throwing up in the toilet from a probable food poisoning
Love pizza express.
This one is close to where we live and the dough balls are great
Really love pizza express. Their Pizzas are so thin and light, they dont weigh too heavily on your stomach. The wine can sometimes be pricey for what you get, but in return you get to dine in an elegant, romantic setting thats both quiet and relaxing.
The service is efficient and the staff are friendly and best of all not too pushy. Top quality
Very smart and nice restaurant, love the flowers on the table, as my partner can never work out if they are real or not.
They change there menu with the seasons, and currently there special chef pizzas are great and served on a wooden plank with a pizza cutter which is a nice touch.
Always love the pizzas and starters. And the misses loves the lasagne.
This is right in the heart of Greenwich just round the corner of the cuttys ark but is nice a quite inside, and you don't notice really where you are.
One of our fav restaurants
A must visit if you are in Greenwich
This was a favourite of mine when I was a student in Greenwich - you know what to expect and you get it.
The pizzas are always nice and big and full of toppings.
The restaurant is a bit small and can get rather crowded - so make sure you don't annoy the people on the table next to you as they can easily reach your dinner!
The prices are what you would expect from a Pizza Express an dpretty much the same in everyone I've ever visited.
Never had a bad experience.
This is probably the best pizza place I have been to - bar the ones in Italy obviously! The staff are friendly, quick and polite. You can see your pizza being cooked in the open kitchen that is in the centre of the room and the prices are pretty reasonable.
The pizza is great, the pasta is great, the desserts are fantastic if you can stuff one in without vomming. The wine list isnt the best but that doesn't really matter.
I think that they only niggle I have with Pizza Express is they let children in! Generally the kids are well behaved but there has been many a time I have flicked some tomato sauce over a stinking, bogie-faced brat who keeps staring at me - but apart from that his place is top notch.
Although the foood was correct, I cannot say that we had a good experience. We went in for dinner, 2 adults 2 children. We were given a table right in front of the cooking area, which could be considered as entertainment, but the staff were constantly turning around our table to come and pick up customers' food. This became rapidly irritating. The staff were not very friendly, we had to ask for clean cutlery and one of the glasses still had lipstick around the rim. The waterjug we asked for was an old, cracked plastic jug and although it looked clean it left us unsure. We found the toilets cold, dingy and dirty. On the whole we agreed the place was not welcoming.
This is a lovely restaurant, with a nice relaxed ambience as you would expect from Pizza Express. Very friendly staff but they arent pushy in my experience. The menu is extensive and the food always of good quality and freshly prepared. Ive never had a bad experience here, quite the opposite. If youre in London this is one to visit.
i think pizza express is great, even better than pizza hut. its pretty cheap and the food is all fresh and delicious. They have quite a large range of foods including delicious starters and desserts. I havent ever had a bad experience at pizza express so there isnt anything negative to say
This a very nice and tranquil resturant. The seating area is nice and cosy and it can be romantic in the evenings. You are able to choose from a large array of Italian food and the wines there are very nice too!
ahh, i forgot about this little gem!- the greenwich branch is slightly smaller than the average Pizza Express, but that doesn't stop them from serving up the ideal pizzas! if all pizza places were to replicate the design of the restaurants, and the quality of food, then Britain would easily beat italy on the pizzas!. i also find the staff are brilliant- normally when in this kind of place you get some snotty 18 year old who knows nothing, but pizza express seem to bring the best out in the staff. well worth a visit. And don't forget to tip the staff! they deserve it!
