Great branch of Pizza Express, right by the Cathedral Green, in a nice old building with a good atmosphere. The staff are chirpy and friendly, the food is always quality.
The only problem is how insanely busy it gets!
The always reliable Pizza Express just keeps getting better and better ( Try the boozy deserts!) and this branch is well placed, tucked away at the edge of Cathedral Close.
A slightly odd shape,so not always easy to navigate around full tables-but the waiting staff manage well and are always friendly.
I love this restaurant, it really doesn't feel like a chain and it's in a gorgeous building. They are fantasic with kids and give them balloons and crayons as well as having a dedicated children's menu. The food is fantastic and the staff are really helpful and friendly. The only downside is you can't book a table so you have to wait a while to get a table sometimes.
Pizza Express is definitely a very good place to have a pizza and the desserts are just amazing (try the cheesecake !!). Unfortunately, the last time when I came to Pizza Express Exeter, the staff didn' t care much about me as a customer. First, my boyfriend and I had to wait nearly 15 mins. for the waiter to come and to bring the menu cards. He communicated rarely with us and spoke very soft. When he recognized, that we were foreigners, he immediately started to ignore us completely. Without a word, he brought our orders after 30 mins (a baileys late, cheesecake, tea and chocolate fudge cake) and when we asked for the bill, he let us wait another 15 mins (the restaurant was almost empty). The couple who sat next to us was treated more friendly and the orders came quicker. That is a shame, as I know from previously visits, that the staff is not always like that.
So all in all I can say that Pizza Express Exeter has a very nice location, but the staff is moody and can be unfriendly to tourists.
Small but perfectly formed restaurant over looking the cathedral. With an extensive menu offering delicious italian dishes, the restaurant is perfect for a quiet meal with a loved one in the heart of the city.
Five stars for this branch of Pizza Express, the staff give you the sort of welcome you would expect in a small independent, but they are obviously a chain! Very nice place to eat and well recommended.
Great food! Plus the location is lovely, especially on a warm spring evening as a walk past the cathedral after dinner is very charming. The staff were very friendly and happy to help.
nice plase with nice people. the food sort of tasts the same but its not to expensive for a night out with friends.
