Rated by many exiled Ayrshire folks as the greatest chip shop around the Plaza as it is known locally is an Ardrossan institution, and long may that continue.
A traditional fish and chip shop offering piping hot servings that are always fresh, crunchy and delicious. You have the option to sit in on the cafe side, but there is something altogether more enjoyable about eating their fare straight out of the papers.
They also sell a lot of the old fashioned soft drinks, in glass bottles too - the only way to enjoy Irn Bru or Red Kola properly.
I had heard that this was a great fish & chip shop, so decided to stop off in Ardrossan on my way home and treat myself. What a mistake! I don't know if they were just having an off day or what, but really - this was the worst fish & chips EVER! The staff were unhelpful and, frankly, quite clueless. The fish & chips were inedible. I ended up throwing them in the bin! What a waste! I most certainly won't be eating there again.
its an ok chip shop i much prefer alberts fish and chip shop at the bottom of glasgow street. the ice cream is really nice from the plaza though.
