Such a sweet little cafe. I visited this place a few weeks ago with my boyfriend. The place is decorated with flags and various bits and bobs. We both ordered the lamb mince curry and were asked by staff what hot we wanted our dishes. The food was great, good flavour with just enough for it to fill us well but not too much to gorge over.
Friendly staff and food worth going back for.
I really love this cafe. When it first opened, it attracted some serious controversy- the windows were smashed a few times. Quite why is difficult to say: an article said it was religious extremists, but this place has a really nice, chilled atmosphere, lovely craft-style chairs, jazz music on the radio and some very good prices. It does seem to have a political agenda- odd for a cafe- and once had a sign saying "no service for bigots" in the window.
Still, the food is lovely, the lunch menu is very cheap- the best on the south of the river, perhaps, and it looks delightful in the cold winter evenings. Sometimes they have music, other times discussion groups. Its atmosphere and prices, and energetic owner, make this look like a future hip hang out for south siders.
This is a really interesting place. It has a quirky East meets West menu, and a bit of attitude about it. It is in a rather shabby bit of Pollokshaws Road, and would be easy to miss, but once inside the personable staff and the good value food should win it many fans.
Not to mention the Rushdie stools!
Exellent food. The service was slow the first time we went, but on a second visit we managed to get excellent thali and haleem. It's BYOB so that saves money too.
just back from here and gotta say it was v good..the mutton curry was amazing also had chicken and spinach..wholemeal chappati,s and a starter of mixed pakora..cant wait to go back..
the decor makes a change from the standard run of the mill cafe's.
give it a try i say.
Loved this place! Had my husbands birthday party there and Jim went out of his way to make it a memorable meal. The lamb kofta is the best I have tasted since I was last in Karachi!
