The Paisley Arts Centre is another little gem of a venue hidden with in the generally run down Paisley area. This building is a beautiful converted church and has a cozy, intimate atmosphere inside. At the Arts Centre you can see all sorts of music, drama and comedy. I fell in love with the place after going to see a musician friend play a set in the café/bar area. It was just him, a stool, a mic and an acoustic guitar. This area is tiny with stone walls and wooden floors and can only fit about 30 people but it created the perfect atmosphere for an acoustic gig.
The Arts Centre also runs regular classes and workshops in drama and music and can also be hired as a venue for private functions.
I am writing this review based on years-ago previous experience and I assure any reader I fully intend to review/update it if/when I go back.
As a concert venue or theatre or the like I find this place to be absolutley perfect. It has all the facilities you would want and I have never been disappointed when attending. It's also a great place to sit outside of on a sunny day.
As anything else I find it is overpopulated by the pretentious. It seems to draw a lot of pseudo-West End (Glasgow) types who do nothing but talk nonsense. Real nonsense, Not just your average boozer banter but genuine made-up rubbish.
An excellent small pub and venue for all manner of performers from comedians to those of a more theatrical inclination. I have always found the staff to be helpful and pleasant although on at least one occasion (the first) I did struggle to find the place as I was on my way to see Ed Byrne (comedian extraordinaire). The fact though that it's hidden away merely adds to it's charm.
Like many places in Paisley the prices for your favourite tipple are very reasonable, although when it's busy it can be difficult to get to the bar, this can be quite a problem when a show is either about to start or has just finished but is otherwise acceptable.
the wee pub up here is really overlooked! really cool wee hang out with cheap booze and lovely clientell. The DJ's are great too.
The pub is my favourite in Paisley. Cool and funky vibe. Good for an open-mic night. The Art Centre below is good for live theatrical performances. Small and intimate theatre. Their panto is hilarious and as much fun for adults as for kids. The Reds cafe is also very good for coffee and snacks although not many tables so might have to turn back on a busy Saturday afternoon.
Been to see a few plays in the Arts Centre and found it really enjoyable,it can be a bit cramped but for the money you cant expect much else.
was in the bar once for some drinks with friends had a couple of cocktails which were good but its very very small inside the bar area so we had to leave after a few too crowded.
