I'm shocked that there are shops in Manchester that know about Nudie jeans, let alone a single shop that carries them. Are there Mancunians with that large a wad of cash burning a whole through their purses? Impressive!
A chill, hipster-y gent sold the boy a super cute pair of Vans (casual shoes that aren't a shade of brown: success!) and explained the origins of the noteworthy bicycle saddles hanging up behind the till. Luxury skinny jeans and posh gear for your fixie... I mean, what else could a Williamsburg-wannabe desire, right?Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 8Oh no 0 - Angela B.Hastings, East Sussex4995811796 Nov 2009
Good style never comes cheap. This is especially true if you're a man. Most clothing boutiques and high street stores cater for women and it's rare you find a store like this that offers so many unique quality items for the discerning young gentleman.
This is the only store my boyfriend comes to for his trousers (in particular he Edwin brand of jeans) simply because you can't find them anywhere else. From Barbour to Oliver Spencer, Levis to YMC, they have such a well selected collection of labels that convey the best in British understated style.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - james b.Manchester1348947822 Sept 2009First to Review
Oi Polloi gives the men of Manchester something that women have enjoyed for years- a boutique shopping experience.
Situated on oh-so boho Tibb St, amongst the art shops and bistro bars Oi Polloi is cool with a capital coo- there is just something so much more exciting about picking up your Clarks originals here rather than on the high street!
Stocking all of the very best in mod trends and classic British labels Oi Polloi is a shop that knows its stuff and the staff are always happy to dish out some fashion advice so you don't leave looking like a turnip.
What seems like quite a small looking shop upstairs, actually has a rather expansive basement, but it's easy to miss so stay alert as down
there you'll find the best selection of men's shoes in Manchester.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype User (mofgim…)Manchester60248221 Feb 2010
Us blokes can have a tricky ol' time when searching for clothes. It's easy to convince yourself that there's only boutique type shops designed for women.
However, there is one that caters for men that stands out a mile in Manchester and that's Oi Polloi.
It's a cosy little shop that has knowledgeable and friendly staff behind the counter and racks of great clothes and, in something that they excel in, shoes.
Specialising in the things you can't really buy anywhere else, expect to see Burlington, Fjallraven, Gloverall, John Smedley and Nudie Jeans in the shop rather than the usual stock you find shunted the way of the disinterested male.
The stock can be a little pricey, but you don't mind paying for things that feel like they've been ordered in for their quality and, to be quite frank, good looks.
It's definitely got a vibe of the cool 30something, what with Clarke's Originals and duffels on the cards, but there's a wonderful array of stock for those who want to buy something cool and different.
For those not in Manchester, you'll be glad to learn that you can buy online... although, your bank manager might get annoyed with you as you find yourself spending a month's wages on smart threads.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sarah-Jane B.Brighton2801096336021 Dec 2009
Another gem of a boutique, Oi Polloi was opened in the early noughies and has remained one of the best places to buy men's clothes and accessories in the U.K.
Spread over two floors, it offers everything you could need from 'an arsenal of casual footwear' and smart and stylish clothes to more casual wear, magazines and accessories. As well as classic polo shirts, shirts, jeans and jackets by big names like Ralph Lauren, Kangol, Barbour, Stone Island and Lyle & Scott, there's great products from Brutus, Acne, Veja, Velour, Grevi, Garbstore, Sunspel, Rig Out, Richard James, Universal Works, Nom De Guerre and The Hill-Side. Personally, I particularly like the Nudie and Edwin jeans but couldn't get my brother to splash out that much!
Accessories wise, Oi Pollio are also bang on the money with Ray Ban sunglasses, Timex 80, Casio and Toy Watch watches and shoes by Fracap, Tretorn, Tricker, Yuketen, Weaver Moccasin and Verginia Footwear. If you sign up to their newsletter, you'll be sent details of new stock and special offers like their occasional collaborations with local record label Finders Keepers.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Elie T.Paris, France9720865627 Oct 2014
Some very well chosen kicks , a perfect location in the NQ, quite an Hipster spot but in a good way: you'll find there ( and you'll pay the price ) what people don't have . OI Polloi doesn't follow, it creates the trend !

There was a time when I used to work at House of Fraser, in a very highbrow designer sort of department. The fact that within minutes of looking around Oi Polloi (which sounds like some kind of insult if you shout it loudly) I recognised a heck of a lot of brands spoke volumes. This is not somewhere that will be kind to your wallet.
Okay, so Converse ain't so pricey and a G-Shock watch might not force you to remortgage the house, but still, the likes of Stone Island, Robe di Kappa and Red Wing shoes will definitely set you back a few. If you've got the moolah or pop in during the sales, however, Oi Polloi could end up making you very happy. It offers a heck of a lot of unusual variety and choice and if you're feeling a bit left out being female, snag one of the blokey Toy Watches. Seriously do, because I love them and I want to live vicariously through you.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sam R.Manchester106746734 Mar 2010
I think the name of this shop says everything. Oi Polloi is all about high fashion, and that certainly comes at a price here. For some, they have that money and it's worth spending it at this high-end Northern Quarter boutique.
We're talking stunning polo shirts, Levi jeans and super-cool jumpers and shirts for about £100 each.
What I like most about Oi Polloi is that they allow young men to wax jackets. Previously, these could only be worn by my mum when she went for an early morning walk in the cold. Now, every trendy sod in the Northern Quarter owns one and somehow manages to look cool in it.
Oi Polloi is a really great boutique that stocks great clothes and has a prestige about it. If you think you've got the wonga (yes, I did just say that - not sorry), go and check it out.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 2201414 Feb 2015

I ordered a pair of Dr. Martens from outside the UK (I am in the USA). Big mistake -- they were falling apart before I even took them out of the shoebox... Two of the eyelets were off on one of the shoes. I would return them but the shipping cost is prohibitive and Oi Polloi is ignoring my emails. Lesson learned. Do not trust them for any type of mail order and never order online from this company, especially if you are outside the UK!
EDIT-Also, be forewarned about shipping & tax. I am sending this package back for half the shipping cost they charged me to send it to my house. Also, you will get a letter a couple weeks later about the UK's VAT (value added tax). So now, to add insult to injury, not only am I out a total of $323.89 USD ($234.44 for the shoes & shipping+ $89.45 to send them back, along with the the inconvenience and waste of my time), Now I also have a bill from DHL for a 38% duty and a fee - an additional cost of $85.12 for a pair of shoes I will never wear. This brings my total cost for this nightmare to over $409.00!!! .Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
