I love coming to this very unpretentious place in a pretty pretentious area. YO YO is awesome but I do feel a little out of place in the crowd.

I have been to quite a few gigs here, the space is really cool and intimate. Drinks are averagely priced, you can also get a meze platter. It is sort of in a basement and can feel a bit dingy, but I love it. Plenty of good dancing nights to be had here, with a massive variety of events- something for all!

A couple of my friends have told me to come to NHAC during my stay and London and I realized from the ferocity in their eyes that their swaying was less a friendly suggestion and more a gentle threat. "No, you HAVE to go there," they said. Alright then.

I hear Thursday are supposed to be hoppin' but we went on a Wednesday night, as Wednesdays are FREE for students. Drinks are about what you'd expect for a night out in London. I got a non-alcoholic cocktail for £3.50 and my friend got a vodka and club soda for £5.50 I think. Not terrible.

We watched two bands, both talented. The first band was obviously young and had a posse of equally young counterparts swaying and lip synching to their riffs. Never in my 22 years have I felt so...old.

Overall kind of a dingy, clubby atmosphere but definitely cool for a night or two. Keep your eyes peeled, the entrance doesn't exactly have a sign out front, just some gnarly looking bouncers and a group of chain smoking kids. I mean that in a good way.

The Notting Hill Arts Club is a great little place to catch bands, do a bit of dancing or even have a gab with friends over a glass of wine.

I particularly like RoTA, which is a free gig on Saturdays hosted by an array of musicy London types - Drowned in Sound, Rough Trade and Southern Records have all hosted a RoTA afternoon. It's good going down and seeing bands during the day too, leaves the night ahead to drink.

The club is hit or miss, it depends on the day you go. This place is really an indie hive though, Alan McGee hosts a night here too.

From hearing about this place, you'd think it'd be pretty pretentious but it's not. I love Notting Hill and this is a great wee spot to hang out whether you're a local or otherwise.

I love the Notting Hill Arts Club.  It's totally cool and a bit poser-ish, but nothing more than the usual twats back in my East End hood!

A great place for gigs or just a boogie on the dancefloor, I became hooked on their Thursday night club night for a while and it was totally awesome.  Intimate enough to create a warm vibe, but big enough to not have to look at the same ten people for the entire night, Notting Hill Arts Club has a well-stocked bar and pretty reasonable prices.

Always keep an eye on their website for gigs, as they have some really great bands play.

I actually really like this place. Like many other reviewers, I thought it would be full of poserish, too-artsy-to-put-trousers-on, floppy-haired, Harry Potter glasses-wearing chain-smoking twats. And yes, there are some of those there, but there are also others there who make the scene unbelievably chill.

Usually my night of choice was a Thursday - not too expensive admission (I recall it was a fiver), good music, nice crowd of people. It's a good place to go dancing on a Saturday and the drinks are YUM (I had a delish watermelon cocktail that was freshly blended). Also super tube/bus accessible - always a bonus in my book.

Notting Hill Arts club is famous in the art and creative scene in London. and all though it has been open already over ten years and still considered a place with a character and great underground atmosphere.

They have different clubs for every evening of the week, with very different music for various genres so take a look at their web sites before you go. They also always have some exhibition going on and some random link to Finland as you can buy Finnish beer from the bar. It is called Karhu.

Definitely a place to go if you are looking for a nigh out in the West!

Got to admit i was a little skeptical when i found out friends were planning a holiday night out here.  I am generally not a fan of dance clubs nor pretentious people.  I thought this was going to be artist chic emo bs.  Wrong.

The bar is subterranean, with one side serving as a dance floor and the other as a lounge area.  All drinks are 50 ml pours (yes, that is a five and a zero), so keep that in mind--or don't--when ordering.

I didn't venture too often to the dance side, but when i did it appeared like everyone was thoroughly enjoying themselves. The lounge side can get quite packed, so try to stake out a spot.

Convenient coat check (think it is a quid) and helpful staff.

While this is about as far as i like to venture into the club world, i have to say i was impressed by the overall atmosphere, including the laid back fun-seeking clientele.

i've heard a lot about this place but just went myself last night.  i didn't really know what to expect..the name makes it sound a bit pretentious and cool but it wasn't like that at all.

i kind of reminded me of the social (which i love) but bigger.  good dance space..and you can just wile out and do whatever you want.  the night i went they had 3 mc's (?) i don't know..they were kinda like hype men (well two guys and a girl) so the dj would play something and they would either rap a little bit or say "come on put your hands up" or the girl would sing one line or some song.  it was kinda weird. but it worked.  i still danced and had fun.

i wasn't really paying attention to the type of people there...but from my memory they were a bit hipstery but overall just seemed like people wanting to have a good time.  no uptight i'm too cute for this grungy place type people.

oh and best part.  they free pour!  no measuring out the exact amount..and the standard is a double.  so you are bound to get F'ed up! (if you want of course)

oh cover was 8 pounds...i think if you get their early its either free or 5..but not positive on that.

Notting Hill Arts Club is nowhere near as pretentious as the name may sound. Located in a basement lit up with projected images on the walls it is home to a wide variety of music and DJs, as well as an excellent bar with really good cocktails.

The venue is effortlessly cool and unpolished, and the crowd that it attracts very varied. I first came across The Hackney Globe Trotter DJing here by chance, now I am totally hooked to his latino salsa, funk, punk, jungle, drum and bass fusion. I could easily spend every night here without my feet ever leaving the dance floor.

...Something to aim for.

It's a lower level room with a bar in the middle. It's the best for Hip Hop on a Thursday with Seb Chew Djing or live Hip Hop acts playing. YO YO'S is a Mark Ronson creation and has been going for a while in England. It originated in America and the sister night is still a big ticket over there. Expect to see lots of fly kids with the 80's style going on here. Lots of in the scene characters popping down here every now and then like CASSETTE PLAYA and KESH. One thing to remember with this club is that its guest lists only, so you need to ring up to secure a spot on the list, fiver on the door regardless.

I may be the fish out of the appropriate pond when discussing NHAC, though it has a great spot in my heart -- met Alan McGee and The Others there in '04, imbibed with summer friends in '03, and have constantly bragged about the experiences.  Impressive even from a NY view...
