Not knowing North Manchester at all and a long old trek to North Manchester, I'd imagined I'd get lost on the way here. Fortunately the directions and street signs are easy to follow.
I know as far as Cheetham Hill and parts of Prestwich but then my knowledge of the city falls off. I was sent here instead of South Manchester, where I live, because they could fit me in alot sooner than my nearest hospital. I have tinnitus and the specialist referred me for a MRI scan to check there was nothing untoward causing the tinnitus in one of my ears.
The MRI scan itself was a little daunting, especially if like me, you're claustrophobic. They essentially slide you inside this fantastic looking machine with a 'space helmet' device attached to your head. It's the fact that you've been placed inside this coffin like object which can be a little unnerving. You're then subject to a 10 minute blast of frequencies (you're given earplugs and a button to press if you get a little agitated whilst inside). It actually reminded me of an Autechre gig I went to at the music box a few years back. Very odd experience.
Fortunately the results came back clear, although I'll continue to have tinnitus throughout my life.
The North Manchester Hospital appears to be part old, huge Victorian building with but with modern appendages surrounding. Clean and friendly staff made the visit much more comfortable.
i was in 2 weeks ago in ward J3 with gastroenteritis and the staff were brilliant, very helpful and friendly. Thank you for everything i'm a lot better now x
