I'd heard that there was a nickel branch in london after visiting the new york store for a pedicure. After 5 days of shopping in NYC my feet were aching, after the treatment (and i know its daft to say) i actually felt like i was walking on clouds.
because of the service i received in NYC i thought id give the covent garden branch a go as its not too far from the office.
Initially i went for a massage after a long haul flight.(i trained as a masseur many years ago but never went into the business, so, i know what to expect and what not to expect) the therapist was friendly and i received a quality massage.
Because of the service i received, i booked in for a facial, now, im not one of those guys who takes much care of my skin so it was a bit of a treat for myself. my sister is a beautician and ive had a few from her, the spas treatment was so much better.
There was no pressure to buy their product but they did explain the benefits of certain lotions and potions.......
Since then ive been back for laser hair removal. Ive tried several way to get rid of hair and this has been the most effective.....and way less painfull!
Ive recommended this place to friends and ive even bought treatments for friend birthday gifts.... all who have been have told me that they now go regularly.
I was first introduced to Nickel by my lovely manfriend in New York. The spa there is 4,500 square feet of plush, white and clean lines and is very, very popular with the boys.
Its London counterpart is much smaller but is hopefully set to revolutionise men's grooming in this country, offering everything on the menu from facials, manicures, pedicures to waxing back, sack and crack (yes that's really how it's listed). Their products, I have heard by good authority are 'amaaaazing' and start at only £10. Off you go boys!
There used to be a Nickel in San Francisco so I thought I would check this one out while visiting London for my birthday.
The staff is very friendly and was especially helpful with booking my appointment via email in advance, so I could avoid the international call. The spa is very clean and they use excellent products.
I had an 80 minute deep tissue massage, which was very good. He was very thorough and found some pressure points that other masseuses have not. Very friendly, chatted when chatted to, but maintained a peaceful experience throughout.
I was disappointed with the spa amenities though, but in hind sight I should have asked more questions when booking. I expected there to be a steam room and shower, which is what every spa I've been to has, to relax in before and after my treatment but there isn't one. There did happen to be a shower in the treatment room I was in, and I probably could have asked to use it, but I felt like the expectation was that I dress right away. I mention this only as a warning to other customers, not necessarily as a complaint against Nickel.
The spa is located in a wonderful part of London with lots of shops and restaurants, definitely worth getting to the area early and walking around before your treatment.
I've been to Nickel many times but have recently stopped going. Whilst the people at the front desk are lovely, you never know which beauty therapist you're going to get, it's so hit and miss and they have such a high churn of staff it makes the whole experience really impersonal. The last time I went there they completely ruined my eyebrows. I would avoid at all costs.
Nickel's attractive shop-front got my attention as a local to the neighbourhood, and was pleased to discover that the staff were as pretty and pleasant as the shop-front led me to believe! I've had some treatments there over the last year ranging from massages, dermabrasion and facials; not only have the treatments been thorough, personal and satisfying, my correspondence regarding follow-up's, appointments and enquiries about treatments/products has always been pleasant and efficient. I'm happy to recommend Nickel Spa.
