Is reasonable... ;)
Love this store
it is one stop shop- you can get all supplies you need (books, crystal, essence, and get a psychic reading)
I can't find a place that encompasses all this under one roof in London
it is very special
a bit pricey though
If you are like me and find the whole 'hocus pocus' theory fascinating, then this is a great little shop to venture into. I was introduced to Mysteries by my friend who has had her tarot cards read here and recommended it. Situated off Neal's Yard this alternative type shop is perfect for body, mind and souls enthusiasts or if you are looking to read up about psychic and spiritual behaviour and practice. It also provides material on holistic therapies, complimentary medicine, and Reiki.
It is around £35 for half an hour to get your tarot cards read on the upstairs level by one of the experts. If you are unsure who to choose, the staff advise you to look at the pictures of the readers displayed at the counter and go with who you are naturally drawn to. You also receive a recording of your reading. Beautiful healing crystals are on display in cabinets, and there is also a good range of gift ideas such as DVD's and incense sticks.
A lovely little place to escape from the bustle of Covent Garden.
This is a really cute little shop, that you can buy basic tools from (Candles, incense, crystals etc) as it is in Covent Garden there are a few cheesy things but you can of course ignore these. Their book section isn't fantastic, but it has some good titles there.
They have a cute little water alter in the back which is quite nice, they also play soothing music.
If you are close by then you might want to pop in to take a look or even book in a psychic reading :)
I thought I will be greeting by mystery novels but I was surprised to see stuffs on the more magical side of life (e.g. crystal balls, astrology stuff, etc.). I still love it here.
I can't help gravitating towards Mysteries when I am in Covent Garden. I think it's those soft lit crystal lamps or possibly the promise of some soothing chanting in the background while I pretend to shop.
There's a good spiritual and self help book section and staff on hand to offer advice. They also stock my favourite Chandan incense.
I'm not too sure about psychics but here is a good place to find one should you feel the need to know the future.
Gee I love anything new-age and spiritual-esque. Anything that claims can re-align my chakras or cleanse my aura, I'm there in an instant.
So you can imagine my love for Mysteries, which does all that and more. With a great range of books, candles, crystals and incense, it is for me, a little slice of Hippie Heaven.
Also offering a range of services, from tarot reading to psychic readings and Reiki, Mysteries is a great way to while away an afternoon.
Being somewhat of a practising magus I do enjoy shops like this. You can take it in two ways, either as something fun and gimmicky, or you can purchase some useful tools for your practice.
I suggest talking to the sales assistant as they always seem to be practitioners in the arts and willing to give their advice.
Mysteries also work as a centre for the mind and spirit by holding reading sessions and classes that you can book.
They have a good selection on books covering simple holistic therapies to magical workings. Mysteries cover a wide spectrum of all things holistic, magical and spiritual. They are a great place to start if you have an interest in this area. For those further down the Occult path you may need somewhere a little more advanced.
You know when you walk into a store and there seems so much to look at, books to read, crystals, ornaments and lots of unusual looking stuff to explore, well Mysteries is one of those places.
What you get here is one of those many shops you can find in Brighton right here in London. Mysteries has a diverse range of spiritual healing, new age and personal development books, gifts and display items.
You could spend an hour or two in here just studying the choices. They also offer a range of services for the new age community.
Different to Astrology around the corner as it has much more display and new age items to explore.
Situated off Neal's Yard this 'alternative' shop is an Aladdin's cave for the psychic beginner, expert or enthusiast. There is a wide range of books, audio and visual items available in a huge number of disciplines, including new age, wicca, tarot, complimentary medicine, reiki etc. Beautiful healing crystals are on display in glass cabinets, and unusual gift ideas are scattered throughout the multi-roomed shop.
Upstairs resident readers can predict your future through tarot, rune, i-ching and palm reading - £60 for 1 hour, £35 for 30 mins. Book to have a reading with Barbara, if you're curious about what fate has in store! The sessions are taped for you future reference, and telephone readings are also available. To avoid disappointed though, make sure you book in advance for a reading.
Mysteries is an esoteric store that sells all things related to spiritual endeavours. They sell dream catchers, tarot cards, books on astrology and tarot, gemstones, Kama Sutra books and videos, yoga DVDs and CDs, Zen - anything you need to rejuvenate your soul. This is my new favourite store. I absolutely love their selection of items. Their stock is so varied and you can find really interesting things in here. They also do tarot readings, so if you're into that kind of stuff make an appointment and see what 2009 has in store for you.
Mysteries is a little new age for my tastes, but you really can't beat its selection of tarot cards, crystals and esotericy niknaks in central London. It has a wide range of Occult jewellery, and a good selection of indian/buddhist stuff in the back. The staff do know what they are on about, and the customer service desk in the Tarot section is particularly helpful. They have a good range of different sized and coloured candles for magical work, although I don't think that they are solid colouring which is rather important for serious practitioners. It's not a very serious shop, but it is good fun and rather useful. I always pop in if I'm walking past.
Mysteries is great. We go there for candles, incense and the occasional crystal for our collection. The staff is fabby and the atmosphere is good. You're not pressured to buy anything. But I usually do! :)
Lots of crystals, a fair selection of books, and all sorts of other weird and wonderful items. Worth a visit if you're in the area and have an interest in "new age" or "esoteric" pursuits. Can get kind of crazy crowded on a Saturday.
Best incense in London (Fred Soll). Psychic readings vary enormously. Lovely staff! One of my (American) friends described this place as "the best store in London!"
An esoteric treasure trove. Fill your boots, it doesnt get much better than this outside of Glastonbury.
Mysteries has one of the biggest collection of psychics and healers permanently working under one London roof. Whether you believe in this kind of thing or not it is all pretty fascinating. At least you know that the guys working here really do do this for a living and are not just trying to make a quick buck. They even have biographies and each day they have a little board above you as you walk in so that you can choose which one is giving you the right 'vibes'! I think it is £25 for half an hour £40 for 1 hour and that includes a recording. You can even do a 6 week Psychic course with 'Neil' he used to be a roadie with big rock bands and now he's a sky diving psychic! Very nice chap.
I call from LA at 5am to speak with Jan (1pm London time). He is really the best there is for clear, honest, psychic advise. Always been dead on - sometimes painfully so.
This place sits perfectly in hippy, earthy Covent Garden. It's a treasure trove of gemstones, candles, wicca supplies and other such new age wares. Mysteries also have a fairly large bookshop specialising in the same alternative subjects, which is great for browsing. A selection of tarot card readers, palmists and psychics also work upstairs (the staircase has water streams flowing on either side, which only adds to the other worldly feel of the place) bookings can be made at the cash counter. It's a great place to wonder around for a little while, if only to see the unusual items on offer.
This place is super! I had a reading from a no nonsense reader. He got right to the point on some my inner conflicts and concerns even before he read a card spread. I have no comment on the books or the store, as I did not spend much time looking at all. If you want a reading, arrive when the store opens at 11:00AM. They do not take bookings over the phone. It is on a walk-in basis and they get booked quickly. I was lucky to get a slot when I walked in.
I went in search of healing crystals and found Mysteries on the internet. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the store had such a nice cosy feel to it. I decided to do a half hr reading and got booked in with Venus who was absolutely lovely! She was very spot on and gave off such a nice vibe about herself. I would definitely go back :)
I've been to mysteries quite a few times, and seen quite a few of the readers. Amanda and Nevine were very inaccurate. Ammar is so-so. Andre was good. Martha and Barbara are the best readers in my opinion, especially Barbara. I like that she didn't focus on my personality etc. like so many other readers, but gives a very detailed (and accurate) reading including timeline. She doesn't hold back on the bad, gives a frank reading, and friendly and fun to talk to. Martha's readings are clear and accurate, although her readings are insightful rather than specific. I always feel a sense of calm after seeing her. The above is my opinion based on personal experience, and not an advertisement or meant to slag anyone off.
