Simply the best pub in London, bar none.
If you want fancy, or cool, or pumping disco beats go elsewhere.
But if your idea of a good night is a free jukebox with lots of decent rock, a good pint, and maybe a couple of Jagerbombs with Angus then it's your place.
And its ran by "Funston and Rumbles". Where else would two 70's detectives have their own bar?
Awesome bar in a residential area; I wouldn't have known it was there if my friend didn't take me. Friendly, happy-go-lucky crowd, very non-douchey (a nice change of pace when most of the places in Hoxton are chock full of them).
Pool table, and other nightly trivia and movie events make this place awesome all the time. I will definitely be coming back!
I went there for the Totally Tidy Tour Christmas knees up in December and really liked the gaff. The staff were friendly, there were free proper pub games and they let DJs play great music. The decor is welcoming and it's not far to stagger to the tube as well as having a smoking area that isn't out on the streets.
It's one of the pubs where I'd hang out / meet up when I'm in Islington.
This is indeed a very dog friendly pub. Me an another Yelper have spent many an enjoyable time in here with the 2 woofers. They have the most awesome jukebox, which is free! good range of booze, reasonable food (they used to serve steaks on a slab of lava rock), a pool table, darts board and a little outdoor bit for smokers.
They do a good pub quiz, and I've always found staff and customers to be friendly, especialy if you have dogs with you!
It's a breath of fresh air from the High Street pubs that occupy most of Angel, and is free from the dicks that occupy aforementioned pubs in the area.
Take your friends, take a dog or two, and enjoy your time in a great boozer!

The Mucky Pup boasts to be one of the most dog friendly pubs in London. I'm not sure if that was true, when I was there, there was no dogs in sight!
Anyways, canines aside, The Mucky Pup is indeed a friendly little pub. It's quite small but on Sunday's there are a host of DJs that play in rotation from magazines like NME, Mojo and also Rough Trade and an assortment of other music journalists.
There's an array of good booze behind the bar and always friendly smiling staff. I do like this pub but it's more of a solid local for someone in and round the Upper street area as opposed to a pub which you would go out of your way to visit.
