As a long-time admirer of Marco Pierre White I'd been dying to try out the newly opened Steakhouse at the top of The Cube, and I wasn't disappointed.
Spectacular panoramic views across the city greet you as you enter the champagne bar or cocktail bar for pre-dinner drinks, and whether you're watching the sun go down, or looking at the bright lights of Birmingham, it's an amazing sight.
The service was first-class far from being obsequious, our waitress was attentive but friendly and helpful, advising on the menu when we were torn between choices and arranging a birthday surprise for my boyfriend.
Four of us dined, enjoying beautifully prepared and presented foie gras, and then tucking into fish, steaks and lamb, all of which were absolutely perfect.
While some of the prices were high, it wasn't as expensive as I'd envisaged fish and chips is £13.50 while a fillet steak is £27 for example.
While not for every weekend, this is an outstanding dining experience to enjoy as a real treat to savour my new favourite!
Took my partner and guests for our first visit to MPW on Monday 23rd July 2012.
Bar and veranda were very busy for a Monday night and service behind the bar could have been quicker but the two members of staff were busy making cocktails.
The restaurant was busy with couples and larger parties of mixed age all seemed to be enjoying themselves. The seven in our party had a great time, food was excellent and service good and the nice surprise at the end, it was not as expensive as I was expecting for a restaurant of this quality. Yes we will be returning keep up the good work.
Fantastic views across the birmingham, combined with a good steak and chips, onion rings where truly delish. Service was friendly and attentive if not the slickest but this didn't worry me. Prices are reasonable for this type of restaurant (steak circa £24-30). However, i felt the whole restaurant and bar area just lacked a bit of charm / magic I was expecting, whilst i understand the view should be the star attraction sadly it's not as if I'm looking at the honk kong or NYC skyline.
this place gets a 3 star review. the views are spectacular after sunset, but the service is pretty awful. the waiters were pretty bad at service, putting the plates on top of the napkins on the table, chatting inappropriately whilst taking orders, forgetting to give all the menus they should have given and forgetting drinks orders halfway to the kitchen and coming back to check.
the food was okay, but the service kind of ruined the experience.
