This trendy and chic restaurant is a great place to have a dinner in the warmer months. It is situated on the waterfront, with a lovely view especially at dusk or at night.
The food is really delicious, nicely presented, and the dishes are quite creative.
The dishes are carefully planned using predominantly seasonal and bio products, while not being overpriced and are thus accessible.
Very disappointed by the food and even more disappointed by their customer service. The only reason why this place deserves one star is because of its great location at the Danube Canal.
Beautiful environment, excellent wine, decent food and very mediocre, lackluster service.
Grab a meal or drink next to the canal on a warm sunny day. Most of the time it's crowded so groups should reserve but for couples you can be lucky to grab a couple reclining chairs and enjoy the shade during a hot summers day.
I was told this was touristy but it was an easy centrally located place to meet so we went anyways. I didn't find it touristy at all, although if did eat at cafe' and not inside. My quinoa salad was fresh and perfect for a light lunch. Service was pleasant and efficient. And located right on the river, it was wonderful to sit outside on a warm spring day. I would go again when in the area. And totally going to try to reproduce the salad!
We were stranded without a place for Brunch this morning when my friend recommended Motto am Fluss. I was hesitant as being on the Canal and right on Schwedenplatz I assumed it was touristy. I was pretty wrong.
A nice breakfast menu, good view, and nice ambiance. I had the "Light House" vegetarian breakfast (there is a picture of it on here, but its not mine.) Nice fresh avocado with egg, curd cheese and vegetables. Nice fresh orange juice and coffee.
The pasty was nice, and the service was exceptional - which was not the case for where we were going to go, so I was happy.
I'm a fan, and I also heard the have nice drinks in the later hours.
Cafe Motto am Fluss is a great place to meet up with a friend or a small group of friends. It offers a cozy environment to chat, catch up, drink coffee/tea/wine and choose between a few savory and a few healthy plates for food. They have a collection of desserts that are worth trying out, as well. It seems to be crowded all the time, so a reservation is needed, even for the cafe. The cafe is decently priced for the locale, food, and service it offers.
I was very pleased when I selected Motto am Fluss out of my Vienna guidebook. I really liked the ambiance - with glass windows surrounding the cafe, fresh potted plants on all the tables, jugs of tap water, a big blackboard with part of the menu. I was happy that the food was as good as the decor. I had a delicious roast beef sandwich, served with avocado and salad on the side. The waiting staff are not the most welcoming but I am told that most restaurants in Vienna do not fuss over their customers.
I liked the place so much that I went back the next day for lunch. This time I ordered a seafood risotto which although I didn't enjoy as much as the sandwich, it was still masterfully created with a real original recipe.
I'm told that the thing to order there for next time is their pink lemonade. The locals were lapping it up like watered candy.
Situated by the riverside, Motto Am Fluss has both a cafe and a restaurant. We dined downstairs at the restaurant where service was pleasant and food was just ok. While they do serve a couple Viennese dishes, the menu is decidedly fusion/eclectic and does not lean toward a particular type of cuisine.
Appetizer choices such as foie gras terrine, mackerel tartare, and raw oysters were decent but not outstanding, as were main courses such as venison with chestnuts and brussel sprouts, lamb sous vide, and veal stew.
This place seems quite trendy and more suited for drinks than for dinner.
Motto am Fluss is not the cheapest place to go, but its definitely worth the money. The food is excellent and very good quality (all organic) - also they have creative and surprisingly good combinations of herbs and usual other drinks. Service is caring and very nice. It is not very easy to get a spot on the outer deck on top of the ship, where you have sun all day long. I would recommand you to reserve a table if you head there for brunch on saturday or sunday morning.
Amazing food and ambience!
Great options even for vegetarians. Beautiful views and very festive.
The music was cool, lounge house. The avocado and papaya quinoa salad ok but it had that out of the freezer feeing. It was across from the hotel, the concierge recommended it, so we tried it. they should have more options in the menu. For once
If you are around is ok, but nothing special. The view outside is nice, my glass of white wine was served very poorly. The music gave the third star.
I have heard so much about this place and I can't believe i waited so long to try it! I went with a friend on a busy Thursday night and sat in the Cafe (upstairs) portion of Motto am Fluss. The waitstaff is incredibly nice and the atmosphere is lively and young and perfect for downtown. I like that they offer many non-alcoholic drinks and lots of non-traditional things, like their homemade basil lemonade. I chose instead the holunder syrup with soda and went for the 8 hour cooked lamb. The meat was very tender and the sweetpotato gnocchi were a great addition. The sauce gave me a bit of indigestion, but the flourless chocolate cake for dessert made it all better:) My entire meal wasn't huge in portion, but left me full my bill was under 20euros. For downtown that's a bargain. For a more romatic night out when the pockets are deeper, perhaps I will try the main restaurant downstairs, but the cafe is also located on the terrace which will be nice in the summer.
Perfect place in spring and summer!! Sitting on the deck with a riverchannel view. Drinking spritzer! Perfect
Yes its a nice and unusal place and I would definitely always recommend for visitors to go there. The food is pretty good and the spot is just really cool. So why am I not a fan? Staff can be a bit arrogant, so can customers be, some people think they are just above other people, don't like that. So, thats why ;)
I always order the same when I visit Motto am Fluss: the avocado and papaya quinoa salad. I am a big fan and the fusion is so good. The "Basilikum - Limettenlimonade" (basil and lime soda) is also very refreshing. The restaurant is slightly on the expensive side but the quality of the food makes it worth it. The decor is modern and there is a really nice outdoor area with tables for eating and chairs for just lounging and drinking. The staff speak English and are friendly. The location is good: "am Fluss" means "on the river" and is in the first district.
Love the design an concept. Food (breakfast) was OK nicly presented but nothing special.
Great brunch (the all day breakfast sandwich is excellent!), and really chilled atmosphere - only downside was the slow service (which was apologised for with a free coffee). Great discovery, and was a nice change from frankfurters and schnitzel!
My husband and I were pleasantly surprised when we discovered this restaurant. First, it looks very touristy - a boat on the river. The food is fusion and very yummy. We visited it 3 times during our stay in Vienna. Everything we tried are tasty.
