From the exterior you would never guess at the interest & beauty that lies inside this pub in the heart of Camden Town. The lady's name was Jinny, aka the Witch Queen of Kentish Town. She entertained highway robbers in her gaff,& killed off several husbands her cottage stood where the pub now stands.

In 1660 it was a wasteland & local people thought she was a witch cos she had a cape with bats painted on it,a huge red cap & a cat wrapped round her shoulders. (see the pub sign pic attached)

Children would taunt her & she would scream back at them.

Great pub nowadays with a lovely central island bar & a spiral staircase leading upstairs

FYI That's not a picture of the Mother Red Cap by the way.
I think your listing is of the Black Cap in Camden. Mother Red Cap is on the Holloway Road.
