This hotel would be awesome for the price and location.
BUT .... they are doing major construction and when i arrived and saw scaffolding i asked them distinctly, is there going to be noise?
and they said no, they are only painting.
So what happened at 9am? they were jackhammering outside my window AND in the hallways all day the entire time.
i recorded it on my computer and it was so loud it went into the red. if you are a musician you understand that is very loud. not just a little hammer. but LOUD.
I came to the hotel to relax, sleep, do laundry (of which there isn't any service) and catch up on sleep in the middle of a tour.
If you are doing construction, tell the guests when they book, and don't blatantly lie when they ask you.
I am very very very mad right now.

When you think of a motel in North America what comes to mind? Some dingy, threadbare, questionable establishment, right? Not Motel One friends! I stumbled upon this delightful chain whilst trying to find my perfect Berlin accommodations. Hostels and I are not friends. But I'm also not a millionaire. Enter Motel One. They have something like 5 locations in Berlin. I picked this one in Kreuzberg. And I am so pumped that I did.
First off it is literally like 30 steps to the subway, so you are zipping along to other parts of the city in no time. Its also in a fun neighbourhood. Think hipster meets punk meets students. I was quickly and safely able to walk to tasty restaurants and some pretty dope bars and lounges.
The rooms are fantastic. I was blown away. Adorable colour scheme, big shower stall, comfortable beds, AIR CONDITIONING!!! And for an extra 7 euros you get wifi in your room AND a buffet breakfast. That breakfast blew my mind. Our North American hotels should start taking notes! Fresh buns, fresh cheeses, fresh meats, soft boiled eggs, yogurts, fresh fruit, coffee and teas. Oh and they let you pay your hotel bill in your home currency which means Visa couldn't ding me an exchange rate!
Again, Motel One is the bomb. Go. Stay. Enjoy!

Not really in the area I regard as Mitte, it is in fact just on the west side of where the Berlin Wall was, this is a cosy and friendly hotel, after a slightly long check in. I particularly liked the luxury sink in my room, although my memory fails me as to precisely why I would single it out for special praise. Slept well (not in the sink).
I was less fond of the local area. The nearest station was under a roundabout. Kind of like Old Street, except that it makes Old Street station appear like St Pancras in comparison!

The Motel One is great. It's is very central literally a 1 minute walk from the station and at a great location to explore the city and trendy Kreuzberg. The rooms are not big, but a have decent size and very modern - with everything you need. The bathrooms are also very nice. This motel one i think is one of the smaller ones in berlin, but still just as good. The tsaff is friendly and the rooms great. I also recommend the welcome package as that way you get breakfast and internet in your room for i think €6,50/7 euros a great deal, otherwise free internet in the lobby. The breakfast i great and has everything you need bread, cereal, fruits, yogurt, coffee, tea etc. I think the motel one is a great budget hotel for business people as well as tourists.
Also, I got to the hotel about 2.5 hours before the 3pm allowed check-in time and I had no problems checking in early and was even allowed to go up to my room straight away/
